I like one particular aspect of centralization, in everything else they are flying into the abyss, why am I chatting with you here and not on Reddit, you think, eh?)

hopefully this kind of search will work well over time ❤️🙂

sounds more like a crutch.)

I agree, but I have a feeling that the new approach will have more cons than pros in convenience

i know about the problems of centralized social networks and do not idealize them, not in any case. i'm talking about this particular aspect that I like

so I think that such an interaction between instances is now broken and requires reorganization

would love to help financially, but fing politics interferes. Russia. foreign cards/transfers are blocked and very high dollar exchange rate.

if I was complaining about the lack of a post translation button - yes, that's about features. emojies - same. but I'm talking about the architecture of the federation, the foundations on which the social network is built. and it seems to me that the pillars on which mastodon stands have big cracks. for example, the problem with profile post history was written back in '16 on GitHub, but nothing was ever done. there are good people there - the only reason why I'm there.

"However, we want to assure you that you are not at risk of anything similar with our apps. Instead, we bet on transparency and a fair approach to users ... It is a small one-time fee that will ensure you use our apps forever – with no ads and no access to your data" 😂😐

Do not really understand how Android sandboxing works for system apps.

Mozhi is an alternative-frontend for many translation engines.

Supported Engines:

  • Google
  • Reverso
  • DeepL
  • LibreTranslate
  • Yandex
  • IBM Watson
  • MyMemory
  • DuckDuckGo (almost 1-1 with Bing Translate)

In the privacy community there are services, programs for private maps use. Some even suggest using the phone without a SIM card (which is quite possible, but you can get into trouble). But I don't use them, as my geolocation is already tracked by an advanced camera system in my city, by my cell provider via triangulation. What are your thoughts on this? Do you use OpenStreetMap for private navigation?

Bismuth. Making tiling window management easy. On KDE Plasma. Thanks to this fine person, we have a working Bismuth on Plasma 5.27. It only took the addition of one question mark to the code to bring it to life. Huge kudos to developer. Unfortunately, we will have to build Bismuth from source code. I built a package for Fedora 38, here you go, maybe someone will find it useful! ❤️

For the past year, I've been immersed in the topic of Privacy. I switched to Linux, flashed my phone to LineageOS, changed all my software to one that respects privacy, switched my family and most* friends to Signal, started hating megacorporations and pretty much every government in the world, asked a lot of questions on tiddeR and here. Everything makes sense to me now. I'm a privacy guru🥹. How to move on? What's the next step? 😁

P.S. if you're just at the beginning of your journey, I don't think you'll find a better resource than PrivacyGuides. Highly recommend it!
