...but we never stopped to ask if we should

[-] terminhell@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 3 days ago

Sorry 😔

It's not all roses up here either. I'm 6'4". Not NBA competitive in height, but well above the average. Finding clothes, shoes etc is a royal pita. Some amusement park rides I can't fit in. Having to duck a lot and having to be generally more aware of the height of doorways and hanging light fixtures. Also having people in stores asking me to grab stuff from upper shelving gets old too.

That's my gold standard. I've used just about everything under the sun. They've all failed, except this one. I have a few of these now. They've survived all kinds of punishment. Hell even being left in my pocket and going through several wash/dry cycles.

I have an upcoming contender if it keeps going, and it's a ~~Kingston~~ Lexar. 128gig I use mostly for work. All metal housing, no moving parts and attached to my keychain. It's not been wash/dried yet. But it goes with me every day. And it's used nearly daily too.

Edit: Nvm, just looked at right now, my keychain drive is also Lexar, so NVM, Lexar all day 'er day.

Is this any different than the legit apps?

It's still around and used. I see it most often with my lawyer clients. Hotkey templates and key words. Idk when they talk about issues it sounds like marketing buzzwords to me haha. I rarely use any word processing apps.

Funny description came up about Linux this weekend from my father in law. He kept referring to Linux as an "aftermarket OS". First time I've heard it out like that, didn't bother responding tbh lol.

Are you sharing this drive with windows machines? It may be better to go exfat or something more neutral in that case.

Does anyone know how Connectwise RMM does scripting deployments FROM other RMM tools? We are having a tough time trying to figure out how to pass our site tokens through as part of an installation script from DattoRMM, and none of the documentation seems to align correctly. Someone told us it would be something like

msiexec /q /i "%tempdir%\AsioAgentIinstaller.msi"  TOKEN=@RMMSiteToken@ /L*V "%tempdir%\AsioAgentInstaller.log"

but we're not seeming to have much luck with that.

Has anyone successfully scripted their deployment/migration from DattoRMM to CWRMM, and if so, how? We're absolutely vexed at this.

To be fair, there is and has been a KDE spin. I can see an argument for gnome, as it's overall the simpler environment. Simple defaults has been fedoras thing for a long time.

Isn't this the topic Jayztwocents has talked about recently? AIB's making up their own defaults for cpu performance.

What's the threshold for quantum tunneling to be an issue? Cuz at such small scales, particles can...teleport through stuff.

It was and still is a few things: Mostly the cool factor. It's different, does what I tell it (safety be damned lol ).

Security: Mostly sane defaults (like not making the initial user with full admin rights).

In the early days, a major factor was being poorer, constantly rebuilding Frankenstein PCs that would trip Ms activation crap. And with so many used parts, performance was better too.

I know this is old news for most of us, but it's something I had just forgotten to get around too. Filtered out Elon musk and X posts. I don't care about any of it, and tired of seeing every seemingly 5th posts being about it.

For those that want to filter things, check your client settings.
