Define popular. Sub genres can't compete with mainstream radio music. But I would say yes, there's a scene.

Well, modern rock is a label that encompasses almost all of the most modern subgenres of rock.
tretanten at 2023-07-08 07:35:11+00:00 ID: jr4mhie
So what's the question? Your initial question is broader genre wise. Are you after tips on potential bands?
No-Yogurtcloset-7420 (OP) at 2023-07-08 07:42:31+00:00 ID: jr4n1gs
First there is classic rock, that is, rock an roll and current rock, which to sum it up is mainly alternative rock and alternative metal, my question is if both are popular
tretanten at 2023-07-08 07:46:08+00:00 ID: jr4nazk
You formulate that question so weird. And it's hard to answer because you're so broad in what you ask. Yes certain band are popular even here.
No-Yogurtcloset-7420 (OP) at 2023-07-08 08:04:24+00:00 ID: jr4om9n
When I mean rock, I mean classic and modern. But when many people think of rock, they only think of classic rock, and that's why I mentioned today's rock, which is different from classic rock. That's the summary of the question I asked.
tretanten at 2023-07-08 08:09:32+00:00 ID: jr4ozkq
Ahh I see, so your subjective take on what todays rock music is, that's what your asking here? There are soooo many ways to better ask that question.
No-Yogurtcloset-7420 (OP) at 2023-07-08 08:31:08+00:00 ID: jr4qiam
It's not just mine, and it's just the reason why I'm asking the question this way, like I said the question is, is it popular or not?
tretanten at 2023-07-08 08:32:17+00:00 ID: jr4ql9h
I've answered it two times.

It used to be like ten years ago, but now we’re a dying breed. Barely any in the rock-scene anywhere here now. The ones that like it only show up at concerts, but are living “regular” lives with no bar-hangs or hangs at all for that matter.
No-Yogurtcloset-7420 (OP) at 2023-07-08 07:21:58+00:00 ID: jr4li4u
Do you mean classic rock?

No, the popularity in rock/metal/punk has died out to minuscule levels in recent years here in the general public. We don’t have the same fun scene we used to.

I understand
TompalompaT at 2023-07-08 08:48:15+00:00 ID: jr4roqa
Fattar inte varför du blir nedröstad, det du säger är helt sant. Gangsterrap har kört över rock/metal i popularitet i Sverige.
pekka--- at 2023-07-08 10:26:31+00:00 ID: jr4yism
bronet at 2023-07-08 07:35:12+00:00 ID: jr4mhl6
Yeah metal is nowhere close to as popular as reddit would make you believe. It's not close to being mainstream, but a decent part of the population likes listening to it. Your average guy definitely doesn't, though
27Purple at 2023-07-08 08:13:26+00:00 ID: jr4p9l8
Lol the only country that beats us in metal bands per capita is Finland. The statistics are there so how can you not believe it?
If you ever want to come over here to experience it yourself, Stockholm is a terrible city for live rock/metal. Gorhenburg is better, and I highly recommend any of our many festivals.

Rock is absolutely popular and there is a huge metal scene, especially considering all the metal bands that has sprung out of Sweden since the 90's.
I don't really get the question though, I think I get a bit confused by the statement that you've heard a lot you don't believe. Is that part of the question? What have you heard that you don't believe?
No-Yogurtcloset-7420 (OP) at 2023-07-08 08:56:05+00:00 ID: jr4s8l9
I understand although there are comments that do not tell me the same thing haha about the other thing it is just a confirmation that I do not believe in everything they say about Sweden it has nothing to do with the question
forevermore91 at 2023-07-08 07:47:14+00:00 ID: jr4ndv9
It used to be much bigger in 00s, but it has since then declined. Kids (They who decide what is popular, age 13 - 20 or so)) listens to other types of music in general. However, normal "rock" music is still popular, but metal not so much.
bruhbruhbruh123466 at 2023-07-08 08:15:34+00:00 ID: jr4pewt
Metal isn’t super popular really, not where I live anyway. It’s not unheard of but still isn’t “popular”
leukemija at 2023-07-08 08:14:38+00:00 ID: jr4pck7
I think it is the same for Swedes.
red38dit at 2023-07-08 08:22:34+00:00 ID: jr4pwvq
We have a lot of artists and the biggest festivals may attract "rockers" but the live rock scene is struggling. Not many indie bands or medium known acts play here compared to non-Scandinavian countries. On radio you will hear mostly mainstream pop/rap.
