This looks like one of those AI images that's designed to trick your brain into thinking there are objects in the image when there aren't. I swear there's a house here, but I can't see it if I look directly at it.

Judging by the number of recycling bins on the back patio, I'd say some slumlord broke this house into 8 units and is renting it out to desperate people for way too much. Fire codes be damned.

Recycling bins…? All I see is tupperwareesque storage totes.

[–] citrusface@lemmy.world 13 points 9 months ago (11 children)

Those green storage tote looking bins are a common style of recycling bin, around here at least - I'm in North Carolina.

I love looking at old houses and trying to trace the changes over the years, and trying to figure out when(ish) and why. This is a particularly fascinating house - thank you for sharing, OP!

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 22 points 9 months ago

Yeah there's the original barn frame there, but them additions got additions.

[–] uservoid1@lemmy.world 34 points 9 months ago (3 children)

Do you want windows? we HAVE windows.

When you build your Lego house from many leftover sets, run out of bricks and fill the missing parts with windows instead.

[–] jasondj@ttrpg.network 12 points 9 months ago

They don’t just have windows. They have LOAD-BEARING windows.

[–] Sharpiemarker@feddit.de 12 points 9 months ago

I can't imagine how drafty and poorly insulated that house is.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago

I feel sorry for whoever has to wash them all.

And the birds.

[–] hesusingthespiritbomb@lemmy.world 33 points 9 months ago

This post is super refreshing.

There are a lot of "God look at this ugly house listing" communities. Usually when I see posts it's either "gaudy McMansion" or "teardown job listed for $$$ based off property values". I always end up unsubscribing to them because it's just an endless feed of identical posts.

This though? This is uniquely terrible.

[–] just_chill@jlai.lu 24 points 9 months ago

Ever played spiritfarer? There is a bit where you play tetris with houses. Same vibe.
it's odd but I can't bring myself to hate it.

[–] jasondj@ttrpg.network 24 points 9 months ago

Weasley House IRL.

[–] wabafee@lemm.ee 23 points 9 months ago

This is what I imagine an AI house is generated. Never thought they would exist in real life.

[–] Metal_Zealot@lemmy.ml 19 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It's like when you're watching someone build a house in Minecraft, but every like 2 minutes they switch to a differently block and it makes me scream aaAAA

AAAA

[–] Landsharkgun@midwest.social 4 points 9 months ago

Hahah. I am infamous for doing this in Terraria. That and building ugly sky railways.

[–] Cosmonaut_Collin@lemmy.world 16 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It looks like a fun house, but I bet exterior maintenance sucks.

[–] Hubi@feddit.de 15 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Right? I would've loved to play hide and seek in there when I was a kid.

It's like the white trash version of the Winchester house in California.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 15 points 9 months ago (1 children)

No, that would be the Barn House, which sadly, but unsurprisingly, burned down.

[–] restingboredface@sh.itjust.works 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I opened that video, saw the length and thought, I'll just get a peek of the house and shut it off. I watched the whole thing. Holy shit.

That globe headline - "Gutsy cripple builds 41-room Mansion... by himself!" I about spit out my coffee.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

I got to visit it once. It was pretty incredible. For a few bucks, he'd drunkenly show you around.

[–] samothtiger@pawb.social 13 points 9 months ago

This is giving me “What Remains of Edith Finch” vibes

[–] erp@kbin.social 12 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Uhh, y'all got permits fer that?

Real world Weasleys live here. Ron works at the local Home Depot. Got a steal on them windows.

[–] bleistift2@feddit.de 9 points 9 months ago (1 children)

To me this looks more home-y than every single family house I’ve ever seen.

[–] CalamityBalls@kbin.social 7 points 9 months ago

Weasley vibes.

[–] RedWeasel@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago

I wonder if the inside looks as bad as the outside.

[–] Psaldorn@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

Maximum natural light.

Maximum number of corners.

[–] Steamymoomilk@sh.itjust.works 8 points 9 months ago

It looks like the house from hello neigbor

[–] Rolando@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago (1 children)

A great place to practice defenestration!

[–] christophski@feddit.uk 4 points 9 months ago

One day I will use this word in day to day life and I will be ready to die

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Bunch of enclosed porches. Place has to leak HVAC air like a sieve.

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 9 months ago

at least there's plenty of natural light

[–] KaleDaddy@beehaw.org 6 points 9 months ago

Kowloon Walled McMansion

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

My head hurts just looking at it.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 5 points 9 months ago

It looks like all the house models have been merged into each other.

[–] waigl@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

I don't think the problem with that one is the photography...

[–] MNByChoice@midwest.social 5 points 9 months ago

I will not be going inside that. It does not look safe.

[–] conno02@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

hello neighbor alpha build-ass house

[–] MisterFrog@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

I'm sure it's awufl, but I actually love the organic look.

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

Paint it blue and do some yard work and it'll pass for a McMansion.

[–] cows_are_underrated@feddit.de 4 points 9 months ago

But what if one more window
