Officers then attempted to enter the establishment. However, the doors had been locked by staff inside who were concerned for their safety, having previously dealt with disgruntled customers who they had found to be intimidating.

Smart.

I didn't realize that this wasn't an onion article and thought it would go like

"Officers then attempted to enter the establishment. However, the doors had been locked by PULL-signs and could not be forcibly pushed open."

After reading the article though, this seems like the cops are on that mental level. So yeah...

I thought that was going to say

the doors had been locked by staff inside who were concerned for their safety, having previously dealt with police who they had found to be intimidating.

"The sheriff [...] says the incident is being politicized in an attempt to win votes in the upcoming local election..."

Well yeah no shit, he said that as if it's a bad thing! If you don't want your retarded abuses of powers to be politicized, don't act like a retard while abusing your power!

I remember this story. Unsurprisingly the guy also won reelection the next month.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That is actually surprising to me. I guess I'm still too hopeful that behavior matters to voters, and that negative actions have negative consequences.

Fuck with a man's burger and you get consequences.

What would cause a bulbous belly like that?

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not sure if you're just referencing whatever this image is from but if you're serious, the answer is alcohol and a sedentary lifestyle

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I meant the question literally. I know a lot of alcoholics, and none of them look like that. Is it from swollen organs?

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I realized I didn't actually know so I just looked into it and apparently it's a lot of things. But the gist of it is that alcohol abuse fucks up your intestines which leads to bloating. Also alcohol has a lot of calories

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Thanks for the information.

You sure yer gramps wasn't driving cheeseburgers down his gullet? Nothin' goes better with beer than a couple of dirty burgers with cheese. Baaaaam!

[–] aaaa@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I imagine the dirty poutine combo was part of it

[–] kittehx@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 days ago

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 3 points 2 days ago

That's disheartening.

You know what I do when a fast food restaurant gets my order wrong? I say "oh, that sucks," and then I eat my food. Food service employees don't get paid enough to deal with normal disgruntled customers, and especially not disgruntled law enforcement officers on a power trip.

"me get wrong thing"
"sorry here two correct thing"
"splendid"

[–] FabledAepitaph@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I just ask for a refund, and if they don't do it, I go straight to a chargeback on my credit card. This has only ever happened once, tbh. Hold the business accountable.

"Hey, I ordered the double with cheese, but this is a spicy chicken...."

"Oh whoops, sorry about that sir let's try that again."

Try this first maybe?

These people need to be stripped of power and banned from holding office for the rest of their lives

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

OP, this story is two months old.

[–] MinorLaceration@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

And the incident happened a year and a half ago.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But the story is timeless.

If I were a cop, I wouldn't eat out, at least in uniform. Disgruntled citizens gonna put on their own special sauce.
