Oh, that'll get spicy.

If there's anything to this story, and fuck knows, there certainly is, the last thing Robinson wants is to get into a trial against an organization that has evidence and a soapbox big enough for a herd of elephants to trumpet from.

What a fucking moron.

[–] Cornelius_Wangenheim@lemmy.world 34 points 1 month ago

He's going to learn real quick what discovery is and then probably cancel the suit.

[–] ZeroCool 26 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I’ve said this elsewhere but I expect the suit will be dropped after the election because he doesn’t have a leg to stand on. This is simply a desperate attempt at damage control as his campaign continues to tank.

Everyone remotely competent quit the Monday following CNN's story about Robinson's past internet activities came out. His campaign manager is now Jack Burkman, who you might know as Jacob Wohl's fellow idiot and long-time partner in crime. The two of them have made multiple comically inept attempts to frame public figures for fictitious sexual assaults, including in October 2018 against U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller, in April 2019 against 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, and in April 2020 against White House Coronavirus Task Force member Anthony Fauci.

So it's not surprising he's convinced Robinson to file a frivolous lawsuit against CNN.

Imagine being such a dimwitted moron that you try to run a smear campaign but accidentally write fanfics about the candidates. "Warren is a cougar who rides so hard she hospitalized a marine."

It doesn't matter.

Nothing will happen before the election, and until then he can spin it as suing CNN for spreading lies or something, and get away with it with 0 penalty.

It's a mildly clever stalling tactic.

[–] Countess425@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I wouldn't say zero penalty; his poll numbers are shit. They were before the story leaked, but nobody seems to be Teflon the way Trump is. He's possibly tanking North Carolina down ballot, and could even flip the state for Kamala. His political career is surely finished. It would have been before now if the GOP had their way, they tried really hard to get him to drop out.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Although I do love that CNN dropped this bombshell within something like 18 hours of the deadline for him to drop out.

[–] Countess425@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I've heard rumors that it was leaked by the GOP specifically to get him to drop out before it was too late, but he's a stubborn Trumper, so I hope they're enjoying the beast they created.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

If that's true, I'm glad it came back to bite them in the ass. They're reaping what they sowed with years of MAGA.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I kinda feel sorry for the paralegals during discovery.

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 74 points 1 month ago

The Republican candidate for North Carolina governor accused the outlet of leaking his information, while refusing to admit it was his information

I don't say this often, but lol

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 40 points 1 month ago

Yes, keep screaming about it as loud as you can.

[–] gargamel@leminal.space 36 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Hey republicans, running batshit insane black people on the Republican ticket isn't going to work, because black people aren't morons who are going to vote for self hating, self described "black nazi's" just because they're black. Pass it on. Or don't. It's hilarious watching you make this mistake over and over.

[–] smokin_shinobi@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Uncle Ruckus IRL.

[–] nkat2112@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

This is a beautiful comment. Thank you for that.

Buffalo Buffalo.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 30 points 1 month ago

I've never heard of the Streisand effect. What's that?

Fuck off, nazi shitbag.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago

When this lawsuit is inevitably dropped or dismissed, I hope WB's very high-end lawyers countersue.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 24 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Wasn't he claiming they weren't his messages?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

He initially claimed it was AI. And when he was asked how faked messages could be put on archived web pages, he made a sort of "they have ways of doing these things" statement.

[–] jeffw@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

I think the idea from the article was that all the info in the profile had been previously breached and leaked, so anyone could have made the profile

[–] TallonMetroid@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

The article doesn't make it sound like the direction he's actually taking, but he could potentially sue for defamation, since they're attributing the messages to him, which he denies is true, and the messages have had a pretty apparent negative effect on him. Seems like he's suing for leaking his PII instead though, so I guess he's doubling down on the notion that someone apparently went through a lot of effort to fake everything.

[–] NoSpiritAnimal@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Discovery should be interesting

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It won't get that far. This is one of those it's cheaper to file a lawsuit than do a publicity blitz scenarios. He will drop the lawsuit, probably sometime after the election.

[–] NoSpiritAnimal@lemmy.world 1 points 4 weeks ago

He can drop his lawsuit if he likes, but the countersuit isn't up to him.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Maybe don't be a stupid piece of shit to use your real information when making an account on a porn site, doubly so when you feel relaxed enough to spout that you identify as a "black nazi" and would like slavery again. You know what, do put all your personal info on porn sites and all places where you are likely to share the bullshit you believe in, makes it easier for us to call you out.

[–] elliot_crane@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Imagine not only being that dumb, but then being dumb enough to not delete the messages when the post-nut clarity hits. Robinson is so lacking in judgement and critical thinking skills that not even one of nature’s most potent boosts helps him.

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 16 points 1 month ago

This will never go to discovery, else proving this perverts perviness. No, Clayton Bigsby just wants the “I’m fighting this” press coverage. GUARANTEED he will drop this suit right after the election.

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

Mark Robinson should sue himself for writing the messages.

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago

Okay, Barbara.

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 1 month ago

Can I sue Mark Robinson for self-identifying as a Black Nazi?

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I can't wait for discovery

[–] subignition@fedia.io 2 points 1 month ago

The defendant is CNN, not Discovery /s

[–] irish_link@lemmy.world 9 points 4 weeks ago

Whats the old phrase originally meant for news papers... Don't pick a fight with people who buy ink by the barrel. Same thing here just different format.

[–] cybervseas@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

My guy thinks he can sue a major media outlet into silence.

I mean, it did work for Twitter to get one of its advertisers back, so we'll see… 😅

[–] miljadisra@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Funny, CNN is run by Nazi. 🤣

[–] Jagothaciv@kbin.earth 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

One of the dumb as fuck good ones.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

The fact that they're dumb as fuck to be able to fall for the people who want to take their rights away is why their I've of the good ones.
