Hello Internet,

I have trouble with any underwear I ever owned. I am wearing XXL or size 8 underwear but they tend to make me uncomfortable in different matters.

Waering loose Boxershorts is okay to my wiener but my balls are to free. Also they tend to crawl upwards during the day.

Tighter Shorts have a good appearance and are my main underwear. But I struggle with them as well: My thing turtles uncomfortably making me insane so I can pull it into position. Also, they tend to screw at the bottom after half an year.

Asking this within my circles only earns sarcastic comments or the experience isn't shared. So I ask you: How do I determine the correct underwear for me and am I missing something? If you relate and have solved this issue, please recommend me some underwear.

// Edit:

Thank you for all the recommendations and input. I wasn't aware of the pouch feature. Researched all suggested brands and:

Ordered from overseas:

  • SAXX
  • BN3TH

Currently not deliverable:

  • Step One

Lululemon does have a store in the city, so I will go there next week to try those on.

This is a message to all straight guys: buy gay underwear!

Get yourself on Andrew Christian, Box, or Aussiebum, or any of the other underwear sites that cater to gay men. We have styles of underwear you wouldn't believe. Yes there'll be rainbows on a bunch of them, but there's plenty that are more "reserved".

BUT, what we do have is a wide range of styles that are comfortable and sexy. We have underwear that separates your cock from your balls, which are really comfortable. We have styles that allow you to show off, or act demure. We have boxer shorts that have freaking pockets!

And because the queer community largely (not always, but we're working on it) accepts all body types, we even cater to larger guys who need a little more room in their smalls.

Seriously boys, get yourself some sexy gay undies. Your junk, and your partners, will thank you.

It never for one second occurred to me that a gay me could have a wider choice of underwear than a straight me currently does. Firing up the private browser tab as we speak - thanks for the info.

[–] KammicRelief@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

better fire up the VPN too. You don't want your ISP to know that you're gay-boxer-curious!

[–] Arkhive@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 month ago

I was about to say something similar. Like I started wearing some “women’s” underwear and running shorts even before I realized I wasn’t a guy. Obviously for people that aren’t trying to hide things I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it, but some of the underwear I have now is just better than tons men’s underwear I wore pre-transition. Just materials, and seam placement, and color options, all of it. You can still find boxers and everything. It’s kind of just better.

SAXX

They are pricey but totally worth it. They last a long time, are very comfortable and have a pouch for your stuff. You can usually find deals on their website for things like discontinued holiday prints. I don't really care what mine look like so I wear a lot of Christmas themed boxer briefs. I'd recommend the Vibe.

I moved trom Saxx to Bn3th because I found they stretched out less over time and thus last longer.

Design wise they're practically identical to Saxx.

Boxer briefs are the best of both worlds. Not too tight like a regular brief underwear, not too loose like boxer shorts, and still has adequate ball support.

[–] 7dev7random7@suppo.fi 2 points 1 month ago

After researching, I wear trunk-size retroshorts. You tip enabled me to query the internet. Thanks!

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Nothing fancy here, but Hanes makes boxer briefs with a little pouch to give your boys a little extra support.

I'm sure other brands offer a similar style, and may be even better, but I can at least vouch for the Hanes.

[–] papalonian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

+1 for the pouch Haines (boxer briefs) I'm literally wearing a pair right now

Duluth Trading men's "Buck Naked" boxer briefs are pretty good.

[–] TheLimiter@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

They're good, but the armachillo ones are softer and more comfortable for me

[–] 7dev7random7@suppo.fi 2 points 1 month ago

Unfortunately the Duluth website doesn't render any pictures. Neither on mobile nor on the desktop.

Will revisit !

My friend, it's like searching for true love. You're going to have to go out there and spend the money and try on different styles until you find the right one.

[–] helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes and now he has many recommendations from a real form to guide his spending, not the equivalent of "hot singles in your area".

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

No recommendation is any good. Again, as with true love, what makes the heart of one man soar like an eagle will only throw another into the nadir of despair. Many a man rejoices to have their intimate areas caressed by Calvin Klein, but the same brand has strangled the gonads of the unfortunate few.

[–] helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yes but at least they are getting unique ideas and not just whatever ad bullshit the general internet feeds them.

I also love the A+ prose.

[–] 7dev7random7@suppo.fi 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I follow your advice and will go into the city to shop for my underwear needs. You are absolutely right: My trunk differs from others. My requirements also change depending on my daily tasks. So I will address this explicitly!

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

If it wasn't underwear I'd advise you to ask a fellow of similar proportions what they like. It's one thing to discuss jeans with a stranger irl and quite another to ask about intimate attire.

Have a good day, internet stranger

I did a thing a couple years ago where I dropped about $500 buying every style of boxer brief that looked appealing or had a strong fanbase. I tried saxx, Duluth, all citizens, meundies, bn3th, Mac Weldon, Lululemon, Tommy John, separatec, and probably a few others.

All Citizens are my winner overall - the BN3TH are also really nice - I actually like their cuts and design better, but the materials don't hold up nearly as well as the All Citizens. All Citizens are also much better value, IMO.

For the All Citizens, I'm specifically talking about their Paradise Pocket boxer briefs. My legs are proportionally beefy in comparison to my waist, so it's also nice that All Citizens offer an "Athletic Fit" option that keeps the legs from being overly tight. Just snug enough not to ride up without pinching or leaving a visible line visible through pants.

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 3 points 1 month ago

Thnx for your research

[–] DerisionConsulting@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Sizes are very different depending on where you live, so I'm not sure what size you actually are. I have underwear from Asia that's XXL, and underwear from North America that's medium.

Have you tried pocketed underwear?
It'll stop your balls from flopping around without squishing your dick because the fabric is too tight. If you follow the "Keep it slick (hairless) if you want it licked" way of thinking for your balls, it'll also prevent "batwing" by keeping them from touching your thighs.

All of the underwear I wear now are pocketed, some of them are codpiece-styled, which can be fun

Got myself some StepOne boxers, best undies I've ever owned no questions asked. Miles better than anything else I've worn, I'm incapable of going back to lesser pants now. They are made with bamboo fiber, have a low friction glide panel between your legs and have a pouch for the junk to sit in. They aren't cheap but worth every penny in my opinion.

[–] Nighed@feddit.uk 2 points 1 month ago

+1 for step one - they were a Reddit discovery for me, but a game changer, replaced nearly everything with them.

[–] Crozekiel@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Am I the only person that actually wants an openable fly in their boxer-briefs? All these companies these days willing to make 2 distinct pockets for balls and shaft but won't let me poke out for fresh air or a bathroom trip without having to deal with the waistband drive me nuts. My cock didn't commit any crimes, I don't want to force it into solitary confinement...

The worst part is I found my perfect underwear several years back and the company has basically disappeared. They had a sort of soft and loose-ish horizontal fly that basically revolutionized my relationship with my crotch and I can't find more :(

[–] happysplinter@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

I relate to this so much. I hate when I get a pair with A grundle pouch but no gate to let it out. I'm not an over the top type of guy.

poke out for fresh air

wat

Something women can't comprehend, our balls are actually lungs and our willy gots to breathe else suffer asphyxiation.

I have been free balling it most of my life.

I think I used to be in the same situation, used to always go for boxer-shorts since i liked having the swinging freedom, but my balls would get uncomfortable.

In comes Dual-Pouch underwear, best of both worlds for me. They look like normal underwear except they have a hole to put the penis in so it drops to the second pouch.

You get a good ball support and you don't have to squish your dick for it or the other case where everything is free, but so are the balls. This fixes that for me

I got the brand 'Separatec' style: everyday

[–] huquad@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Having went through this recently and tried ~5 brands, I recommend Duluth. I like the dang soft, but I'm still exploring their line up.

[–] Gingernate@programming.dev 3 points 1 month ago

Plus 1 for Duluth

Boxer briefs. I have a bunch of moisture wicking clothes from 32 Degrees' Cool line that I pick up when they're on sale. They've been quite good at keeping cool and dry, as well as being comfortable.

[–] Kevo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Personally I use meundies long boxer briefs. They run a little small. I'm a big guy, 40-44 waist, usually for shirts I wear a 2x, 1x if it runs big. I need to go 3x in meindies and even then they're a little tight, but not uncomfortably so.

They last a while, I've had a few pairs for a few years now. I'd recommend joining the membership (no fees, cancel anytime, postpone anytime) and get a pair. If you like them, get a new pair every month or two. Till you fill out your closet.

They're a little pricey at close to $15 - $20 a pair, but they're fun patterns and decent quality if you feel like splurging. But get ready for ads on every ither youtube video for the next year if you even go to their website

I have a similar issue that the package often goes backward, if that makes sense. It's so uncomfortable if it happens after taking a seat in a meeting so you can't fix it. My solution is to purchase boxer briefs from those fetish brands. They usually carry a product line that pushes up the package. I don't need the visual appeal but the design groups everything to the front, so they have nowhere else to go. Then you just choose a size that the pouch is just big enough.

I can recommend Duluth boxers and briefs, they have a few that tend to hold you in place. They're not cheap, but they generally last a pretty long time and are comfortable. Hanes are good as well, just found they were slightly less comfortable.

[–] MagicShel@programming.dev 3 points 1 month ago

Will second pouch recommendation. It's a small but significant difference.

Boxer briefs all the way. Most of mine are Levis and I'm happy with em.

[–] spacecadet@lemm.ee 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

MeUndies thongs for men are absolutely fantastic and my go to daily underwear. They take about a day to get used to but after you do you won’t want to wear anything else.

[–] mortalic@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Get a meundies account for a month and order one of each style that you're interested in. Then buy the style you like. Their model (subscription) sucks but their underwear is comfy

[–] Wawe@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I had similar issues before but then I decided to try Other Danish Guy boxers. They are expensive but I realized that they are best clothing item that I own. I have recommend them to some of my friends and few of them also fell in love with them. They are much strechier than other boxers that I have tried and really comfortable to wear.

[–] s_s@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Pair of Thieves long legged boxer briefs their "superfit" material. Available at Target.

[–] SLVRDRGN@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Pico underwear. Arguably the best material I've ever felt.
