And Trump's a sociopathic narcissist. Neither are good choices but I still pick the one not pushing fascism

The article argues to swap out Biden with a more progressive canidate. It clearly would be better to do so with Trump, but it is what it is.

You seriously think an opinion article from the Guardian is arguing people should vote for Donald Trump?

[–] ShellMonkey@lemmy.socdojo.com 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

What's the option other than 'Biden Bad' then? Who is the candidate that will keep his support and pull away Trump voters that is superior to Biden in some meaningful way outside the statistical noise bounds?

[–] Five 4 points 4 months ago

I don't know, ask Joe Biden. He might have a list of probably 50 people who could beat Trump. But no-one is going to step forward unless he drops out.

Context, subtext, actual text. Survey says: Yes.

I don't believe you've actually read the article. It's not that long.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world -1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Fair enough.

reads article

Biden’s awful record on Gaza and decades of political baggage are more than enough reason to swap him for a real progressive

Yeah. Point stands. Shit on Biden. Claim to hate trump. Limit voter turnout. Mission Accomplished. Thanks Grauniad. Cheers.

Why blame an article and not the Democrats for keeping this unfit for any job - to say the least - candidate? Especially if we take into consideration Trump's popularity. There is still time to remove Biden, the problem is that I don't see the will. Under these circumstances, I would say that if Trump gets reelected it's on the Democrats, not the press. And the whole world will suffer the consequences.

First of all, Biden is ten times the President trump could ever be. Secondly, politics does not exist in a vacuum, it exists in media. Trump’s “popularity” is a media creation. Yes, people believe it, but it wouldn’t exist without the right-wing media in all its sleaziest forms. And that includes the “both sides” bent of ‘mainstream’ media.

I blame an article because that’s ground zero for the worldview of everyone. I also blame the Democratic Party, trump, etc., etc.

It is not a cold heart towards Palestinians. It is a warm heart for Israeli and Zionist money and power

Feels like this community needs a new name. I don't think I've ever seen "pleasant" politics posted here.

[–] Five 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

!PleasantPolitics aspires to be a place where people can have good faith discussions about politics without interference from trolls and assholes. 'Unpleasant' doesn't mean merely having different opinions from conservative Democrats. Creating an echo chamber was not the intended goal.

I agree. It's working well at what I intended it to be, in my opinion, but the name is flat-out wrong at this point.

I made a post with my evaluation of the bot's ability to create a space where people can disagree without being horrible about it. I think it's succeeding at that, and these contentious topics are a good test case, since it's not meant to create a space for only pleasant topics. The name is misleading. I don't know why I didn't expect this, but I didn't.

What do you think? I'm interesting in hearing feedback on how people are receiving the content they're seeing here. If the bot is working in my opinion, but the result from the reader isn't good, that's an issue.

Just wait until Trump come. You will miss Biden greatly.
