I'm fairly new here and was trying to subscribe to some communities from other instances and seem to be having trouble. Are some instances blocked by ours and is there a viewable list of which ones?

If there is a way, I unfortunately would not know how. The only thing I can think to suggest is hopping over to a instance that doesn't block it and federates with this one (and all the others you are interested in) and creating a new account there.

That would be the way to do it - Lemmy.world currently isnt blocking anyone - http://lemmy.world/instances for example.

Gotcha. I just jumped off of lemmy.ml because of the overloading happening with the reddit exodus. Think I'll just chill here for a while and get my bearings. I like the federated concept, it's just taking some getting used to.
