I'm in Toronto Canada and it's a very car dependent landscape unfortunately and honestly I'm a little jealous seeing European places and how nice they are with their rich history. Meanwhile here in Ontario we have quadruple-carriageways and stroads lined with strip malls and big-box stores with their expansive parking lots. Unless you're with friends, going outside can be pretty bleak to the eye.

My ideal town would be as such

  1. a car-free and dense downtown area with rowhouses and condo units above cafes and shops

  2. lots of trees and greenery

  3. traditional architectural design

What would you think for yours?

I have tried: taping them together, hot glueing them together and ziptying it right to the frame to prevent jiggle.

All have failed.

Right now, when I reconnect them and apply pressure, I can't even get the engine to turn on anymore. But the speedometer still works and that signal is sent through the engine cable too.

Recently, sometimes the engine rear wheel barely rolls when I roll the bike backwards.

There are no ebike repair stores in my city.

"On lively main streets that predate parking regulations, shops and restaurants abut one another, but today’s rules produce little islands of commerce surrounded by seas of blacktop."

Especially in North America, timelines for these projects might be years out but the prosepct to adding and improving alternatives to taking the car can still be exciting.

Melbourne Airport Rail workers redeployed as project officially paused.

A really disappointing, backwards step here from the Victorian government.

And yes, stopping and then restarting a major infrastructure project (if that's what ends up happening) is almost certain to lead to delays and cost blowouts, when compared to just completing construction.

From The Age:

"Hundreds of tradespeople will be seconded to other projects after the Andrews government confirmed Melbourne Airport Rail Link construction would be paused, awaiting the results of a major Commonwealth review of the country’s infrastructure pipeline.

"Deputy Premier Jacinta Allan on Wednesday ended weeks of speculation about the future of the long-awaited rail line, saying works would be temporarily halted on the $13 billion Airport Rail Link, as well as upgrades of Clyde, McGregor and Racecourse roads."
