I'm currently trying out Garuda on my gaming Desktop, and a already kind of want to ho back to my safe space after two weeks. Don't get me wrong, I totally see why folks like it, but it's not for me.

Oh! I get it! You're just a troll!

Aw, man, I can't believe I fell for that! Wow, you sure got me.

I mean, surely if you weren't just a troll, you wouldn't tell me I should "get better English [sic]." That's a kind of hilarious gag right there.

Also, when I gave you an example of your hypocrisy, you basically responded with "Nuh-uh! You are!" with, like, no explanation! That's hilarious!

Oh! And then you repeated the "the community of behavioral analysis" bit when I actually explained why you were being a hypocrite, so it totally didn't apply anymore!

Ah, man. Good troll. I haven't gotten suckered that well in a bit. Well, I got chat botted a couple weeks back, but that wasn't nearly as funny.

I'm the wrong one to ask because every time I try something else, I end up returning to Fedora.

But what you switch to depends on why you want to switch:

  • Want to learn more about how Linux works? Install Arch the Arch Way, or try out Void.
  • Want a different DE? Well, you've got Fedora Spins if that's your main goal, but KDE Neon lets you try out the latest stable KDE stuff, which is fun!
  • Looking for a rolling distro but don't want the extra complexity of Arch's minimalist philosophy? OpenSuse Tumbleweed is fantastic.
  • Do you really want to dig deep and have total control of your system? Look into Gentoo or Linux From Scratch.

I've done most of these and more, and I'm happy to recommend something more specific, but I can't without knowing what you're looking for.

If you don't know what you're looking for, and just want to do something different, then do what I do when the distrohopping bug strikes: check out several distros' websites, pick a couple that appeal to you, then research those a little deeper, maybe rum them on a virtual machine for a bit. If you find one you like, back up your critical data and go for it!

I'm sorry, I'm just not seeing the hypocrisy.

What is hypocrisy is calling people lazy because they don't want to do work for a project they're not sure they even want to use, while also excusing same lazy behavior for someone who is interested enough in the project to develop it.

That's how you're being a hypocrite. Now, if you don't mind, please explain how OP is one. Or I am, for that matter.

Also, I'm not angry. You're some rando on lemmy and I'm not that invested. I suppose I care enough to reply, but get pissed off? Nah, bro. That's all on you.

Imma get downvoted for this, but for some reason I care even less than I did on Reddit, which I didn't think was possible...

Anyway, do you honestly think that if piracy actually caused significant profit loss it would affect the billionaires or anyone else in the "investor class"?

Of course not. They're going to use the ahem "loss" to justify lower wages.

I'm not saying don't pirate. I'm just saying you don't get to pretend like you're just hurting the class that gets to decide where the loss gets shunted. That's a wildly naïve view of how the world works. You can't fuck over the billionaires that way. They have too much power to let you.

This is good advice, but having a screenie there in the first place might make someone more likely to try it out.

a.) I'm not convinced you know what the word hypocrite means.

b.) More importantly, they didn't ask for "numerous," they asked for one.

c.) Searching for the UI on, say Google, can have, at best, mixed results. Ive done this, then DLed and tried out the program only to find a completely different UI.

d.) The dev adding one screenshot to their readme.md and a /media folder takes them only slightly longer than it takes potential users to look one up and maybe get a good result. Multiply that time by the number of potential users, and it's obviously more efficient, and effective, for the dev to do it.

Stop being defensive. No one's attacking you or any other dev. They're making a request. Don't like it? Don't do it. Stop calling people names and trying to stir up drama.

Burger King? Really?

I did not know that. That's a damn shame. Sorry about that.

Oh, I'm not blaming Germany. Far from it. They didn't invent fascism. And I'm well aware of Germany's leftist leanings, their current track record concerning immigrants, and their position as a current moral world leader.

And I am concerned about China and fascists running for office in Canada... but I'm a bit preoccupied by the fascism here in the States right now. Well, the white nationalist shit, too. Also the rise of right-wing terrorism that our press refuses to call terrorism because it's being committed by white people I guess?

I don't think we're all that far apart, worldview wise. I'm just maybe a bit more sensitive to all this shit because we elected The Orange Menace.

Also, because we don't have Tim Horton's.

Dude, based on that Article, Germans had the same reaction I did. The difference is that I don't care as much, because my own country is slowly descending into fascism, while you guys (I'm assuming you're German) seem to have a lock on it.

I don't have to be afraid of Germany because (almost) everyone there was horrified and reacted with disgust. Your representatives and political thinkers seem to think that this guy is an asshole, and because of German history, Germany has a responsibility to stand up and say "Fuck You" to guys like this, especially when they're German.

I don't have to worry about Germany because Germany hasn't forgotten what happens when fascism infects a country. My country, on the other hand, has apparently forgotten, and the whole fucking world should be terrified.

It can never happen here is the attitude that lets it happen. That applies whether it's happened before or not. I know Germany is very different from what is was in the 1930s. I fucking lived there in the 90s. I'm not worried about Germany. It's still a bad look.

Well... kind of. The difference is that the official Gnome text editor's actual name is Text Editor. It's not a case of the desktop calling, for instance, Pluma or Xed "Text Editor". The Gnome music app is literally called " Music."

They really don't seem to, and yet I find myself agreeing with them...
