Really? How's the performance?

I'm asking here since I assume a lot of you guys are running homelabs on Lenovo hardware.

I have two M720q Tiny that came with one 8 GB 2400MHz SoDIMM RAM each (see picture). I upgraded one to 2x 32 GB RAM and want to reuse the sticks in the other one for 16 GB in total and dual channel use. They have different FRU numbers (see picture) but I assume it's the same marketing part number and I guess my plan works?

Can anyone confirm? I'm just unsure about dual channel since it's not exactly the same RAM and I'm used to using exact pairs.

Thanks!

Is there an overview of which COD games work on Linux?

[–] archer@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 months ago

Yes please do! I was looking at Philips, Vaya etc. but I don't feel comfortable live streaming my baby to some companies server. I'm hoping to find a solution that lights up if it detects sound (like starts flashing like Vaya).

Which one specifically? Pure Fedora or something like universal blue?

[–] archer@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Wow thanks I was wondering for a while if something like this existed! I'm very happy with regular Arch, but I am very curious to try both an immutable/atomic and a declarative distro. At least the second I guess I can kina replicate now with this. Another rabbit hole to go down I think. :D

So... no idea what happened but it works again.

Just in case anyone stumbles upon this thread at some point here are my current settings:

  • The compatibility layer is proton-ge-custom (from AUR)
  • Steam Input Translation in the Forza Horizon 4 Controller Settings is enabled using the "Official Layout for Forza Horizon 4 - Gamepad"
  • Regular mode (not big picture mode)
  • Steam Overlay is enabled

I still have the issue that on some screens it shows the keyboard buttons and not the controller buttons but since the controller works anyway I don't really care (it's just the optics).

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! :)

Hier der aktuelle Stand. Ich werde jetzt ernten weil es Samstag zehn Tage in den Urlaub geht. Hoffentlich mach ich alles richtig, ist das erste Mal.

Normally regular mode, but I did try big picture with no luck. I also tried Steam overlay on and off. I will try again though all four possibiltues and read up on the GitHub issue thanks!

I only have this one game that I need a controller for

So I've been playing Forza Horizon 4 for a while without any issues using a XBox One Controller via Bluetooth. First i used Proton experimental and later Proton GE. Absolutely no problem.

Now however, the controller is not being recognized in game anymore (the on screen buttons show keyboard keys, not gamepad buttons) and I can't use any of the buttons (except the screenshot one). In the Steam menu, the controller test settings, big picture mode etc. it works fine and its recognized normally.

I didn't make any changes (before it happened, now of course it tried a bunch of stuff) but I did upgrade the system normally.

Any ideas what might have caused this issue?

I'm running Proxmox on a Lenovo ThinkCentre and I decided to swap the internal 256 GB 2,5" SSD for a 500 GB NVME.

I installed the new NVME alongside the old SSD, and formated it in ext4 with a single partition. I then proceeded to 'dd /dev/sda /dev/nvme0n1' and it went through without an error.

My impression was that it would clone all content from the old drive to the new, but it wouldn't boot the new drive. I then logged in and set a boot flag via fstab a, but that only helped me boot but the system gets stuck at "waiting for root file system".

Nothing is lost as the old drive still works fine when installed but how do I complete the swap correctly so I can go NVME-only?

Thank you!

Besides the size difference, which one would you choose for OpenRGB on Arch Linux? Had a Keychron K8 Pro that I didn't get to work. Now it died, so have to replace it. Price wise they're 50 for the Alienware (new) and 75 for the Razer (open box, as new). Please help me decide. Thanks!

Update if anyone finds this thread later: I went with the Razer BlackWidow V3 and also got a Basilisk V3 to match it and they work very well with OpenRGB, I would definitely recommend them! I’m slightly annoyed by the green switches on the keyboard (sound and the feeling when typing) but that’s of course unrelated.

Ernte soll laut Beschreibung allerdings erst Anfang Oktober sein... Hoffentlich schafft sie es bis dahin

Was ist das und ist das schlimm? Würde mich freuen wenn mir jemand weiterhelfen kann. Danke!

Hi people

Is there any good FOSS dictation and transcription software similar to Just Press Record for Android and/or Linux?

I couldn't find anything so far. Thanks a lot.

Hi guys

Is there any way to access Nextcloud files (self hosted) in a file manager just like a regular directory or remote location? So the way iCloud or Dropbox allow you to access files and use them for example to upload them in a browser. So far I only managed to access the files in the Nextcloud WebUI or via the command line (but then a resync is necessary).

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
