What movie is this template from?

[โ€“] Sunny 30 points 2 weeks ago

No. Stay away from these sites. They're only reason to exist is because they have builtin their promo-code into each "try this vpn" button. Giving them a cut of whatever you end up paying for the vpn service. These promo deals that these vpn companies have going are also incredibly lucrative for those promoting them, often giving them 20-40% of the cut.

I think this is unfair because their articles are low quality and often just copied from other sites.

There are mainly 3 vpns you should consider:

  • MullvadVPN.
  • ProtonVPN.
  • IVPN.

Love me some Studio Ghibli related gifts โค๏ธ

Budget wise, maybe 50-80EUR per person.

Completely understand your frustration with this.. This isn't their first rodeo when it comes to these popup sales either.. I know there have been multiple other posts about this here on Lemmy previously. Anyway keep us posted, I've done my part and upvoted the uservoice post ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks for the insight though! Feel like it's a lot better trying than not to. Worst come to worst I continue using my mobile Hotspot which they pay for.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing :)

As far as I was told at least, they use Intune to distribute these, don't think they want to "hand them out manually".

Yeah, they do not officially support us using Linux. However, I would like to see whether Intune can be easily installed on Linux machines so that I can create documentation for those employees who wish to use Linux over Windows/Mac.

Hiya,

Working on completely replacing Spotify completely. Soulseek has popped up a few times here and there among forums and here on lemmy, so I thought I'd give that a go. I've started with getting Nicotine+ client and seems to be working fine. However, what does the traffic look like when downloading/uploading things over the Soulseek network? I read its peer-to-peer network, but does that mean I don't need a VPN? I'm also told to open a port on my router, I'm assuming this is so that I can share my own library with the rest of the network, but how safe is this?

If anyone could help my clarify this I'd greatly appreciate it!

Edit: Just found this very promising project too! https://github.com/slskd/slskd

Hi there, I'm thinking about getting my first pair of IEMs, as I've never had any before and would like to have a wired option that is easy to travel with. I'm specifically looking at the Moondrop Chu 2 as they seem quite affordable and a good starting point.

However my phone does not have AUX anymore (Pixel 7A) and I doubt I'll get a phone that has one in the future as I want to continue to use GrapheneOS.

Does anyone have any experience regarding the use of these dongles. Is there something I should be aware of before doing a purchase?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I see on the pictures(website link) that it's possible to purchase this with an adapter between the dongle and the IEMs. Is this one in specific strictly necessary or can I go with a smaller/cheaper one?

Edit 2: Further investigation, it seems like these can come in two variants: 3.5jack and USB-C.

I'm considering replacing my Nvidia Shield in the future and plan to build a small TV box as its replacement. I'm curious about what operating systems people typically use for these types of TV-specific devices, as well as which desktop environments are preferred. Is KDE or GNOME better optimized for use on TVs?

Hey there!

I'm thinking about starting a blog about privacy guides, security, self-hosting, and other shenanigans, just for my own pleasure. I have my own server running Unraid and have been looking at self-hosting Ghost as the blog platform. However, I am wondering how "safe" it is to use one's own homelab for this. If you have any experience regarding this topic, I would gladly appreciate some tips.

I understand that it's relatively cheap to get a VPS, and that is always an option, but it is always more fun to self-host on one's own bare metal! :)

Hi folks,

Just set up Nginx Proxy Manager + Pihole and a new domain with Porkbun. All is working and I have all my services service.mydomain.com, however some services such as pihole seem to be strictly reachable with /admin at the end. This means with my current setup it only directs me to pihole.mydomain.com which leads to a 403 Forbidden.

This is what I have tried, but with no prevail. Not really getting the hang of this so would really appriciate a pinpoint on this :)

Hi! Thinking about registering a new domain for homelab setup. Not quite sure which registrar to go with but have heard good things about Porkbun here on lemmy. But, do people fill in their actual real name, and details for these sorta things? Geuninly curious, don't want to end up on bad terms with a company. But on the other hand im just going to use this for my homelab and dont see the "need" to give away my details for this sorta thing.

Let me know how you guys do it :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still on the learning path of Linux. But there doesn't seem to many forks of OpenSuse? There are a bunch of forks of Arch, Fedora and Debian, but why not OpenSuse? Is it a license problem or something else?

Hi there.

I love this app to bits, but recently have stumbled upon a weird issue I cannot seem to resolve. Normally I use the Swift keyboard app from Microsoft but for whatever reason, only when writing a comment to someone, it doesn't work as expected. For instance I cannot use backspace to correct my writing and autocorrect gets disabled.

Ive tried to switch to googles keyboard app and the same thing happens there. This strictly only happens in comments as far as I've noticed, and not when writing this. Also only an issue here in Voyager app, nowhere else.

Has anyone stumbled upon this issue? Is it known?

Update; Created a bug-report on the matter for those interested. https://github.com/aeharding/voyager/issues/1602

Got this plant little over 2months ago, and some ofnthe leaves have started to dry out(?) or so it looks like at least. Is this a sign of too little watering? Have tried to keep water consistant, but slightly unsure what is happening.

Any tips appriciated!

Hi there, I've just done the switch from NextDNS to PiHole. Simply because I want to test it out + self-host my DNS. I set up PiHole+Unbound two days ago, and yesterday the amount of "Queries blocked" was much higher that it is now. But this morning the number was down back to 100ish. Is this normal behaviour, is it supposed to reset the counter? I'd rather it didn't. Let me know if this is my fault or a setting I've managed to miss.

Thank you.

Genuinely curious as to how these types of giveaways work and what the company gains from them. Is it the additional data you give them to enter the giveaway? Also does anyone own one of these cameras, are they actually worth redeeming in this case?
