I do remember legitimately playing like this. Sounds dumb to some I'm sure but it was somewhat thrilling to try and stay off the radar. I remember with a friend joining a hugely turfed up server and building a secret underground base there. We went to great lengths to get grass there and a few sheep, and built a life hidden away from hundreds of players haha.

Have you seen 2B2T‽
Man's being risky only going as far as 5k blocks away!
I will never not upvote a comment that includes an interrobang.

Holy ʃit
Believe it or not I actually have a whole invented orthography, and one of my favorite parts of it is that I resolved how C has like a bajillion sounds assigned to it in traditional english spelling by assigning it the ʃ sound so that tʃ can be constructed as Tc.
Sei Tciz!
Someone send help, I angered the phonology nerds

I feel like I could write a comment you would be compelled to downvote regardless of interrobangisity.
Possibly, but the fact that they now know you'd intentionally do that will certainly blunt the efforts on your part.
It's all about the element of surprise.
I have spent hours of most days since mid 2014 building in the same singleplayer creative Minecraft map, it is gigantic, filled with weird architechture, a gigantic minecrat network, a huge underground librarynth and more stuff.
That's actually awesome. I wish I could say I'd been doing the same anything out of passion for the last 10 years
Passion?
I would not call it passion... desperation, sometimes, escapism most of the time.
When I build in minecraft I will allways keep a small window with a video playing, I have watched sooo many tv shows that way....
All my bases are typically 10 or 11 million blocks away from spawn (Anarchy Player)
I keep chipping away at recreating the map of Ultima Online as it was in 1997 when I first started playing it.
Current base 10k blocks from spawn. I'm quite happy there.
This is me playing Elder Scrolls Online. I play it basically like a single player Elder Scrolls RPG, while occasionally seeing another player or teaming up with friends for a dungeon
