Because of Taylor Swift and her american government ties and legion of adoring fans, she not only personly led the Chiefs to tie in the last 3 seconds of the game, which led to an intense over time where Swift herself came on the field in the last few remaining seconds to score a win for her boyfriends team.

It has brought a tear to my eye from the enjoyment. Now i can not wait untill she leads our president on the campaign trial to finally put an end to Trump and his crazed zealots.

Thanks, I was wondering if Taylor Swift's team won!

Yup! I dont follow sports, but i kept track of this game, i just really wanted the chiefs to win to see the backlash and conspiracy theories run amuk.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 25 points 9 months ago (3 children)

For crossword puzzle purposes, remember it's pronounced amuck but spelled amok unless you're reading archaic texts. 👍

Also for crossword puzzle purposes: Bobby Orr played hockey for the Bostin Bruins and the Chicago Black Hawks.

You're with me on this, aren't you fellow crossword fans?

My family was wondering why I was so into the Chiefs this year when I never cared about them before. Their overtime win scored me a future basket of free hot wings and a steady stream of Swiftcentric conspiracy theories. Can't remember being this jazzed about a Superbowl outcome in the past 20 years.

[–] octopus_ink@lemmy.ml 4 points 9 months ago

Hell I can't tell if I'm seeing that in some of the replies here or if they are poking fun. Poe's Law is far too much of a minefield these days.

[–] ExLisper@linux.community 11 points 9 months ago

No. She won. There was no team. It was all Tayloer.

[–] Moobythegoldensock@lemm.ee 3 points 9 months ago

Yes, barely. Luckily, the refs gave the Chiefs 10 bonus points for just having her there, which really helped tip the scales.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 15 points 9 months ago (1 children)

But she forgot to endorse Biden! The Deep State, Nancy Pelosi and Saul Alinsky must not have gotten to her! She's definitely going to endorse Trump at her next concert!

Now excuse me, I have to go wait for the next Q drop.

I'm in Kansas City and don't really follow football THAT much but had been checking the score occasionally on my second monitor. I knew we were tied in overtime. Then I heard a bunch of gunshots in every direction and thats how I knew the game was over and we had won.

Murica.

I was just thinking, how can we call it American Football if we don't arm the players? Maybe just in the 2nd half, everyone gets a sidearm. After all, they're basically a well-regulated militia, right?

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

basically a well-regulated militia

A hell of a lot more of one than every single individual, as the courts seems to believe.

[–] PsychedSy@sh.itjust.works 12 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Wichita here, glad I was asleep. Not looking forward to work, though. If I pull the "isn't that hockey?" line today I'll prolly get stabbed.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago (1 children)

For some real fun, ask them how many points Michael Jordan scored.

The NFL’s first Super Bowl in Las Vegas was a sloppy, mistake-filled affair that was mostly boring until the back-and-forth fourth quarter and OT. It was the second of 58 Super Bowls to go to overtime.

lol this coming from an AP article makes me chuckle.

[–] Big_Boss_77@kbin.social 20 points 9 months ago

This is a perfectly apt description... My background allows me to appreciate highly defensive games, but my GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD are the boooooooring

[–] CarrierLost@infosec.pub 11 points 9 months ago

Second OT in Super Bowl history… both lost by Kyle Shanahan teams after a comeback by the opposition.

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

I’m of the very vast minority that LOVED the massive defense going. I love defensive games where it’s a battle of attrition and taking advantage of errors. It’s so good to me and I can’t stand high scoring games.

I’m a hockey guy though, so maybe that’s part of it? I like to see all parts of the system doing their part and not a single part of it (e.g., offense only) dominating.

Oh man I didn't see this angle, Andy Reid looks so done.

[–] kofe@lemmy.world 12 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Bro Kelce full on shoved him, like wtf. Big red don't be deservin that:(

[–] SupraMario@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago

Maholmes and Kelce are children... it's really fucked up the way they act.

[–] TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee 39 points 9 months ago (4 children)

Started slow, but ended pretty good. Also watched it on the Bikini Bottom Broadcast on Nickolodeon. That was really funny and well done. I'm definitely watching it that way again next year.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 19 points 9 months ago

Nick will probably only get to do that when CBS has the Super Bowl, and right now it's in rotation with the other networks so they won't get it again until 2028. Sorry. They do a few regular season games that way, though.

[–] sigmaklimgrindset@sopuli.xyz 10 points 9 months ago

Never thought I'd see Dora the Explorer throwing shade at defensive football plays, what an era we live in.

[–] octopus_ink@lemmy.ml 4 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

We switched to it after having some problems with the main stream, and the entire family agreed it was the best way to ever watch football.

The giant thumbs up between the uprights at every field goal or extra point should be standard, and the green slime flood at every TD was almost as good.

Edit: And Larry da mf Lobster!

Solid game and all, but that Deadpool 3 trailer with Wolverine and Loki stuff is what really got me hyped.

[–] Vespair@lemm.ee 6 points 9 months ago

I opened Youtube 10 minutes ago and watched it. I'm glad the best part of the Superbowl didn't require any Superbowl watching

[–] someguy3@lemmy.ca 24 points 9 months ago

Let's gooooo conspiracy theorists! I'm thirsty for your tears!

[–] verysoft@kbin.social 14 points 9 months ago (3 children)

Is overtime in this sport an extra hour of ads and 5 minutes of actual play?

Great game. The 49ers played a better game early on, but the Chiefs hung in there and executed when it counted.

[–] Granite@kbin.social 8 points 9 months ago (1 children)

How many 49ers did they kill?

[–] Breezy@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

They got 25 of em! So over half!

[–] A_A@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago

Was Taylor Swift happy ?

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago

Credit to Patrick. He has won three of them now.

[–] reagansrottencorpse@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

I typically don't watch sports but occasionally I'll watch big things like the super bowl. It was so god damn boring. Holy shit.
