I absolutely love BTB. Such a good podcast, especially the longer series like this one. It’s a bit of a time commitment but well worth it.
I love the podcast as well, but I was getting a bit depressed after hearing all the awful things these people did
Same. Had to take a long break from it after a while. I did discover Mike Duncan's "The History of Rome" though and gobbled that up. Nom nom nom.
I realize this is from months ago, but years ago I listened to the history of Rome while it was being created. After it was done I was still wanting more Rome history and I found 12 Byzantine Rulers. Great show that summarizes the eastern empire well.

I can see that happening. There’s basically no upper limit to human suffering and depravity. Personally, I’ve got a decent tolerance of anything short of ‘hacking kids to bits with machetes while lighting puppies on fire with a flamethrower.’
It helps that we’re usually decently detached from the things they mention.
I listened only to their Steven Seagal one but I found one of them annoying and disruptive.
Well there’s usually three people on: the host Robert, co-host Sophie and usually a guest who’s unfamiliar with the topic.
So you might’ve disliked the guest or Sophie, who I’m not fond of either to be honest. Still, it’s a nice podcast to pass the time.
What a coincidence, just downloaded all 6 episodes and plan on listening to them in the coming days. I'll admit I don't really know a lot about this guy, but I hear he was a bastard. Oh yeah, the bit about him being the Forest Gump of war crimes had me laughing.
It's astonishing to me, how completely, I don't really know what to call it, unmotivated? he was in his actions. I could understand, if there would have been an ideology behind it, even money I could somehow understand. But instead it seems to be just a complete disregard of human life in general. He was under no pressure, no reelection, no personal threat, nothing. He just truly did not care.
And that is fucking terrifying.
It's rare that you find someone who seems to do evil for evil sake, especially for that long and that level.
There's other people who are patently evil, but they at least tend to do it for money or power.
Kissinger didn't, sure he did get money and power fueling the military industrial complex, but his actions reflect that for him, that was secondary.
His primary goal was creating misery.
Remember, this is a guy who escaped Nazi Germany in 1938 as a Jew, because of what Hitler was doing.
To then later pretty much state that if he hadn't been born Jewish, he'd have been an antisemite.
This was a really good podcast series - worth listening to.
Oooh, I'll have to give it a listen. I've been working my way through all their episodes.

I've heard this guy helps super villians branch out. He can also fly with an umbrells like Maggie Poppins
