I’ve been doing this for years and it’s lots of fun. Biggest problem for me is I live in the city and have had a hard time finding places they will survive when it’s time to plant.

We've got a trip planned to get our hands onto as many chestnuts and acorns as we can, lots of trees on the way for this winter. Also: collecting a pile of empty drink containers to plant them.
