Sorry but I seem to be out of the loop.

Did something happen? Did the mods do something bad or anything else? Or whats the reason behind all these new versions of 196?

They decided to move the community to lemmy.world because they disagree with Ada about moderation decisions and they want everyone to know it's definitely not about neopronouns

A neopronoun is a (third person) pronoun people sometimes use that is not he, she, they, or it. Some common ones are xi/xir or ze/zir, but also a lot of neopronoun users just make their own.

Those z & x ones sound pretty cool. Thanks for responding informatively!

It's The One pronoun in the Matrix, and it knows kung fu.

Mostly just drag, the scumbag that spends all of their time making fun of trans people

What does the number mean?

[–] xkbx@startrek.website 25 points 2 days ago

Ha, you fool! It’s your cuteness on a scale of 10

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's old reddit lore IIRC, maybe someone remembers it here?

[–] ElectroLisa@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

195, the OG subreddit, was a number of a flat or uni dorm of the founder of it, and as it got closed 196 became the sequel

[–] hungryphrog@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 days ago

So that's why it's called "apartment of awesome". TIL.

[–] johsny@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

As an outsider, I’ve been wondering the exact same thing.

1 + 9 = 10 = J
10 + 6 = 16 = P

It's a reference to television chef Jean-Pierre Bréhier, who has over 2 million subscribers on youtube.

JP opened his first restaurant in the US in 1976. "Coincidentally" called the Left bank.

Ah! Of course.
