How many Linux people actually get the survey? I know I didn't.

[–] cron@feddit.org 15 points 4 weeks ago

I got it a few times over the last years, once on the steam deck.

[–] athkore@feddit.nu 5 points 4 weeks ago

I got it twice

[–] Blxter@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 weeks ago

I forgot it once many months ago and never before or after

[–] mumei@lemmy.world 4 points 4 weeks ago

Got it once in the one year I've been on Linux

[–] ulu_mulu@lemm.ee 4 points 3 weeks ago

I didn't either, not even once in years of playing on Steam.

China needs to start their own Linux distro.

[–] soulsource@discuss.tchncs.de 19 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

They have done that already. It's called Kylin.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 weeks ago

Oh nice I wanna read about that.

Unfortunately, Linux isn't very popular among gamers in China. Im not sure if this true, but i was reading comments on random Chinese forum(or BiliBili? dont remember exactly) some were saying that rarely anyone wants to use Linux on their hardware or when they buy PCs/laptops that come pre-installed with Linux that people usually just go to PC shop to install Windows on their hardware

Deepin is pretty popular

-0.05% might be insignificant, but do you think it has to do with more games requiring kernel-level anti-cheat?

[–] mr_MADAFAKA@lemmy.ml 21 points 4 weeks ago

This type of drop usually happens when the Chinese language rises because "nobody" in China is using Linux

[–] iturnedintoanewt@lemm.ee 8 points 3 weeks ago

Course it's down, they didn't ask me for the survey this time!

[–] HornedMeatBeast@lemmy.world 7 points 4 weeks ago

No Fedora?

I thought it was popular.

I tried Manjaro a few times and it made my PC unusable every time. All sorts of little issues and even though I disabled any sleep features my screens would not wake up after I had been away for about an hour. Nothing else responded either like my PC had frozen.

Nobara is my distro of choice these days.

Obviously there's a lot of caveats about how representative this survey (or any other survey) is of the broader population, but I think this is a good reminder of how weird we all are. Nobody on here claims to use Ubuntu or Manjaro, yet they are more popular than Fedora (and potentially even arch, when steam decks are discounted).

There's nothing wrong with that, I love the weirdness of the Lemmy Linux community! I just always think it's good to appreciate when opinions (like my love of ublue) aren't as popular as you think they are.

[–] zer0bitz@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

I didnt get survey.

[–] Enzy@lemm.ee 0 points 3 weeks ago

Fake Arch numbers.
