I feel like transexuality of 2024 is the Judaism of 1934.

Edit: or transgender or I guess anything 'woke.'

Stay safe friends.

Transexuality of 2024 is the transexuality of 1934.

Or 1933, more precisely, which was when the very first Nazi book burning destroyed the archives of the Institute of Sex Research in Berlin.

In other words, the Nazi persecutions started with trans people, too.

Yeah it’s easy to see us as the target and think we’ll stay the target. We’ll stay targeted but others will join us

The word "woke" has become such a dog whistle, that a person who complains about things being woke, just shows me who they are.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 10 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I have yet to encounter a person who uses "woke" as an insult that is able to define the word.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

because there is no definition. its code language that means whatever the user wants it to mean in that moment, because hatred and othering is what matters. not consistency of argument.

Thats why they laugh at any attempt to have an adult conversation with them. cause they don't care about words or their responsibile use. They just care about insulting, denigrating, and hating people that do take concern for others and use words responsibly

Reminds me of this quote:

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

Poor Sarte...probably never imagined this would become a how-to guide for so many.

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

The existence of a trans person is woke to them. There's a character in one of my kid's shows that's non binary, and their simple existence pisses them off

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

Yep. A word used only by the extreme right.

[–] eltrain123@lemmy.world 9 points 6 months ago

‘Woke’ is understanding the difference between the working class and the ruling class. What they want ‘woke’ to mean is anything that keeps the working class fighting amongst themselves.

If your bits don't match my expectation of your bits, my jimmies will be rustled. Rustled good.
