What is Lemmy?

Lemmy is a self-hosted social link aggregation and discussion platform. It is completely free and open, and not controlled by any company. This means that there is no advertising, tracking, or secret algorithms. Content is organized into communities, so it is easy to subscribe to topics that you are interested in, and ignore others. Voting is used to bring the most interesting items to the top.

Major Changes

This release fixes a problem with federation of moderation actions performed by admin accounts. Specifically there is an check when receiving remote federation actions, which is incorrectly rejecting them in some cases. The problem is fixed by this release.

There are no other changes, and no updated lemmy-ui version.

Support development

@dessalines and @nutomic are working full-time on Lemmy to integrate community contributions, fix bugs, optimize performance and much more. This work is funded exclusively through donations.

If you like using Lemmy, and want to make sure that we will always be available to work full time building it, consider donating to support its development. No one likes recurring donations, but they’ve proven to be the only way that open-source software like Lemmy can stay independent and alive.

Upgrade instructions

Follow the upgrade instructions for ansible or docker. There are no config or API changes with this release.

If you need help with the upgrade, you can ask in our support forum or on the Matrix Chat.

Changes

~~@Albin9325@kerala.party What happened to your posts, everything you posted shows up as deleted. Account deleted~~ ?

Edit: Yes, Albinxxxx is a troll/spammer. It will create an account in an instance and start spamming and eventually delete the account. Report, ban if you find this spammer in your instance or community.

This instance is starting to attract more attention on the fediverse. So, the question naturally arises about if the instance and the discussions on it will be here for the next sunrise. I'm aware that this instance is run as a personal and experimental project.

Is there a way to make this instance more self sustaining? Also, are there periodic backups that could be used to resurrect the instance in case of a failure or migration?

My Cloudflare tunnel configurations suddenly stopped working. I was getting

ERR error="Unable to reach the origin service. The service may be down or it may not be responding to traffic from cloudflared: remote error: tls: unrecognized name"

which led me to this issue https://github.com/NginxProxyManager/nginx-proxy-manager/issues/2696

After some trial and error things are now working again. I was using wildcard domain names in the ingress rules of cloudflared. Somehow this no longer works, I have to manually create an ingress rule for each subdomain. Obviously this has nothing to do with the NginxProxyManager, rather cloudflare has changed something.

Lemmy-ui is updated to the latest rc 0.18.2-rc.1.

Image upload issue also fixed, had to cleanup docker temp files to free up some space.
