A Boring Dystopia

No state has a longer, more profit-driven history of contracting prisoners out to private companies than Alabama. With a sprawling labor system that dates back more than 150 years — including the brutal convict leasing era that replaced slavery — it has constructed a template for the commercialization of mass incarceration.

Most jobs are inside facilities, where the state’s inmates — who are disproportionately Black — can be sentenced to hard labor and forced to work for free doing everything from mopping floors to laundry. But more than 10,000 inmates have logged a combined 17 million work hours outside Alabama’s prison walls since 2018, for entities like city and county governments and businesses that range from major car-part manufacturers and meat-processing plants to distribution centers for major retailers like Walmart, the AP determined.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not attend an event marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland over fears he would be arrested and handed over to the International Criminal Court (ICC), Polish media has reported.

Wladyslaw Bartoszewski, Poland's deputy foreign minister, who is organising the ceremony, told Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita that Warsaw was committed to respecting the ICC's decisions.

If someone reports you for doing anything against their ToS on other websites then it will hold consequences.

This is another reason why privacy matters. Have different user names on different platforms so you can't be linked. I don't condone treating other people poorly however this leads to more control, especially with how crazy ToS/EULAs are and how they are ever changing.

I'm very curious to hear your thoughts on this topic. What can we do to fix this? If you've already tried something what were your results? What worked and what do you think could be done better?

My thoughts on this are that we keep electing politicians who support billionaires and elite instead of ordinary people like you and me. In addition people are loosing a sense of community and are isolated at home. I think these two things can be fixed simultaneously by getting out and talking about class and corrupt politicians in person and having mutual support networks.

These corrupt politicians typically get elected by exploiting people's fears and biases. For example a corrupt politician might blame your problems on immigrants or minorities. Meanwhile people won't notice that they are being robbed by the billionaires.

Israeli Army Radio reported on Sunday that the Israeli military is set to deploy autonomous guns capable of tracking "targets" [Palestinians] when firing ammunition at strategic sites in the occupied West Bank, despite these systems having largely failed and been disabled on October 7 during Operation al-Aqsa Flood.

The Israeli Army has recently begun acquiring advanced technological systems to be installed in the occupied West Bank, including surveillance towers and mechanisms designed for remote firing. The Israeli military reportedly plans to position dozens of these systems at key settlement entrances to deter "infiltration".

According to the report, the systems tailored for West Bank operations are already in production. In the initial phase, the army will prioritize areas deemed most vulnerable, with plans to expand the deployment in the future.
