Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, is making a last-minute appeal to white working-class men. But for all his talk of football, that bloc is far from a safe bet for his ticket.

I'll note that the NLRB's ability to do anything depends very much on who the President is — the board members are appointed by the president, with one being replaced each year

We're seeing rulings like this now because Biden has appointed a majority of the current NLRB board.

Opponents — including plenty of former global warming deniers who have rebranded themselves as economic pragmatists — have cast these steps as too ambitious, too costly or both. Which is to say, we can’t afford to save the planet.

To put it as soberly as we can, it’s that same old suicidal nonsense recast to pass for common sense.

The common causes of that are:

  • Device needs reboot
  • You've disabled javascript
  • You're running a browser extension which removes the gift token from the URL

I'm guessing it's the disabled javascript; the Boston Globe has a paywall for anybody who has it enabled.

It appears possible to scroll the window where you don't have accept/cookie settings buttons fully visible.

This is a gift articles community; there's already no paywall on the main link. You may need to turn on Javascript or turn off a browser extension which removes the access token from the URL.

Against the government is a pretty tough lift in terms of how US law works. Against specific bad actors, there are a lot of lawsuits already.

You've got at least a billion dollars less than the people he cares about being liked by.

They have darker skin than Vance, so he sees them as inherently criminal, irrespective of whether they've actually committed a crime.
