Elaborate on why samba is bad when it comes to security? Like list a bunch of links like this or write a paragraph summarizing them like a chatbot?

NFS does symlinks but they have to be configured correctly.

Samba may have not given you issues in the past, but it also doesn't give you any security.

Also never use samba. At the very least use NFS.

Since this is a philosophy community, let me recommend The Discourses of Epictetus. You may find some wisdom here that applies to your current situation. An overview can be found in The Enchiridion.

I often tell this to people that are struggling with motivation, motivation is overrated. Discipline is the key. Unlike motivation, discipline is a skill, and skills can be learned through practice. The more you practice discipline, the more ingrained in you discipline becomes, until the urge to exercise is no different than the urge to eat, drink, or breathe. Not many people are motivated to wash the dishes, clean their surroundings, or go to work. Through force of will we do these things, until discipline takes over and they become a part of our life's routine.

Not hard at all. Looks like it comes loaded with a webserver and a way to set time lapse from a browser. There's cheaper ways to do this like an ESP32-CAM if you don't need PoE, but that involves another layer of complexity via a UART adapter and using something like the Arduino IDE to upload code to the board.

That's too bad. Nova's usually a good show.

Oh man, your non-gem is what I love. This one got me. It's just the kind of guy I imagined who would be teaching something like this, a dude with "hidden knowledge" that takes every opportunity to share that knowledge with young women who are doing everything in their power to stay away from him 😂

If the IA wasn't on such shaky ground due to current legal trouble, I would love to categorize the Vault into sections that never got a release past VHS because there's a lot of content on there that's available on DVD/Blu-Ray as well. I would just be afraid my efforts would be in vain if they eventually sink.

This is where the nature of federation really shines. .ml is one of the biggest lemmy communities? It doesn't have to be. In fact as lemmy is still so new and various situations continue to shake out I would wager that in a few years time the top current communities will be replaced. And later on those will be replaced. Censorship resistance is built into ActivityPub by virtue of its decentralization.

I was thinking about the digg exodus to reddit just the other day.
