He was only 19 when he was stolen and may not have had a science based education.

Reminds me a bit of the Jaycee Duggard case, she ended up interacting with lots of people without telling them that she was being held by a kidnapper.

It really does. Image search has heaps of photos of her looking like in this painting.

She also says horrible things about people who aren't rich.

The article uses a flattering posed photo of her, too. Here is a candid shot.

South Africa's a democracy with a history of opposing Israeli apartheid.

It's really not surprising that it's taking the lead on this.

Empty optics only work if people are not paying attention to facts. I don't think that's going to happen here.

Sorry to burst your bubble but it's technically incapable of enabling sufficient aid.

  • the US plan is to start with 70 trucks worth of aid and ramp it up to 100 trucks

  • even before the war Gaza needed about 400 trucks of aid, that was when people still had homes and hospitals

  • there are IDF outposts on each side of the pier meaning it could become a choke point just like the crossings

  • the IDF have reinvaded the North where the worst of the famine is

  • the closing of the Rafah crossing means famine conditions are rapidly worsening in the South as well now.

  • once people are actually starving, you need aid workers to distribute aid.

@shubhamofficial thanks but this is not a movie, please post TV content over in @television or moviesandtv@lemm.ee instead?

Well, I hope that day comes!

Thanks for telling me, those are good odds. Honestly, it's a pity Hollywood is so wedded to the star system that they won't make a historical drama about these elephants.

Do you write books, PugJesus? I feel like you could write damn good books...

Ah that's such an interesting part of the world! Do you live in Tanzania, or Kenya? I would offer to do a temporary house swap but I don't own my own house yet.

Thanks, that makes sense! But I don't understand how that could fit in temporally? Like, wouldn't you have already got halfway through the possible investment overview while you were still talking? Or is it more that you're doing both at once?

Strange Way of Life follows in the footsteps of other queer Westerns like Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain to explore masculinity in a deep, meaningful way that diverts from the traditional formula of the genre. It begins when Silva rides out to visit Jake and reminisce about old times and celebrate the fun they had in their youth. Before they were separated, the two worked side-by-side as hired gunmen and enjoyed a passionate relationship with one another. Their happy reunion is soon put on hold as Jake suspects that the rancher has an ulterior motive for suddenly arriving at his home.

A new ferry service in the Southern Caribbean will be operational in about three months and already, Trinidad and Tobago hopes to capitalise on the venture and will be increasing its trade with Guyana. “I’m very happy to say that from an agricultural perspective, this is going to open the doors for opportunity for all of our countries in the region.

“Moreso, we are looking forward to immense trade with Guyana,” Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Avinash Singh told the News Room on Monday. Minister Singh is part of the Trinidadian delegation in Guyana for this week’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) regional summit hosted in Georgetown.

At the sidelines of that event, the Agriculture Minister told the News Room that Trinidadian authorities, including the country’s Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, have been lobbying for a ferry service to push regional trade and the movement of people.

A project to reduce the number of plastics entering the country, focused on the food and beverage sector, was discussed during a workshop in Rarotonga this week. Like other countries around the world, the Cook Islands is an importer and end user of items with single-use plastic packaging.

These packaging end up at Rarotonga’s single landfill located in Arorangi which is the main form of waste management for non-recyclables in the Cook Islands. The landfill is near to its capacity with no alternatives available for a secondary site due to limited land available.

On Wednesday, the National Environment Service (NES) presented the Cook Islands national project under the Global Environment Facility GEFs Circular Solutions to Plastic Pollution integrated programme – Reducing Single-use Plastics on Small Island Economies (RESPONSE).

NES manager environmental partnerships Hayley Weeks and senior environmental partnership coordinator Siana Whatarau delivered the project overview to the 15 participants at the GEF-8 Plastics RESPONSE Project Workshop that was held at The Rarotongan Beach Resort and Lagoonarium.

The objective of the project is to reduce the number of plastics entering the country, focused on the food and beverage sector. It is also to support enabling environments for reuse options and other circular solutions, with the intention of reducing the burden on the Cook Islands waste management system, and reducing pollution and harmful impacts of plastic.

Gambian lawmakers on Monday debated whether to repeal a ban on female genital mutilation, which has been on the rise in recent years despite activist campaigns to end the practice. The small West African nation imposed steep fines and jail sentences in 2015 for those who carry out female circumcision, known by the acronym FGM.

The World Health Organization says the practice has no health benefits and can lead to excessive bleeding, shock, psychological problems and even death. Lawmaker Almameh Gibba presented the repeal bill earlier this month, arguing the ban violates citizens' rights to practice their culture and religion. Gambia is an overwhelmingly Muslim country.

If the bill is passed, Gambia would become the first country to reverse a ban on FGM. After debating the bill, the lawmakers voted by 42 to four to send it to a parliamentary committee for review, the parliament's speaker said.

Icelandic police have declared a state of emergency as lava spewed from a new volcanic fissure on the Reykjanes peninsula, the fourth eruption to hit the area since December. A volcanic eruption “started between stora Skogfell and Hagafell on the Reykjanes Peninsula”, said a statement from the Icelandic Met Office (IMO) on Saturday. Live video images showed glowing lava and billowing smoke.

Iceland’s department of civil protection and emergency management announced it had sent a helicopter to narrow down the exact location of the new fissure. The authority also said the police had declared a state of emergency due to the eruption.

According to the IMO, it occurred close to the same location as a previous eruption on 8 February. Lava appeared to flow south towards the dykes built to protect the fishing village Grindavik, it added.

Indonesian rescuers stepped up search efforts for 21 missing Indonesian fishermen on Thursday night, officials said, with another survivor found after their boat capsized days earlier leaving two dead. At least 12 crew have been found after they survived for days by clinging to their boat when it overturned on Saturday in waters off the remote Selayar islands in South Sulawesi province.

The boat was carrying a crew of 35 but two were found dead on the islands after the incident and 21 remain missing.

"We deployed a boat from Makassar to the Selayar waters. There are 49 personnel involved," head of the local search and rescue agency Mexianus Bekabel said in a statement Thursday, referring to the provincial capital of South Sulawesi.
