sure, but in the case of gawker, it wasn't a slapp, and they won, and gawker was ruined, their entire staff laid off, and sold off for pennies

well, no, gawker did themselves no favors by 1) posting a video of another person naked having sex , and then, 2) refusing to take it down when asked to "for journalistic integrity and definitely not salacious ad revenue"

this doesn't mirror that at all, in the slightest, except it being funded by someone wealthy

Change "I want to be mad" to "I want to make my constituent voters mad, and then continue to campaign on the issue, in the upcoming Presidential election", and it would be clearer as to what and why this is happening

these folks are still confused that they have protection under "free speech" arguments anywhere except if being penalized by the government for it. there are no constitutional "free speech" arguments to be made against private companies, who are under no obligation to allow whatever speech they deem hurtful or potentially hurtful to their business.

When it was shown that Zuck was actively undermining American Democracy, without care for consequence, I deleted my Facebook account, have never used it's messenger, don't Insta or META anything ever. Same with Twitter, I mean, why would you choose to contribute anything to these monsters .... so you can stay in touch with high school friends you never chat, call or speak to?

Imagine after the Twitter debacle, choosing to give a mewling quim like JACK access to your data ever again, lol

Fake Bitwarden sites are pushing installers purportedly for the open-source password manager that carry a new password-stealing malware that security researchers call ZenRAT.

The malware is distributed to Windows users through websites that imitate the legitimate Bitwarden site and rely on typosquatting to fool potential victims.

this is driving me pretty mad, i've got hygrometers, digital and analog all reading wildly different percentages, and would like to calibrate them, read up on the salt test, where you take salt make it damp stick it in a plastic bag and after +8 hrs the internal humidity of the bag should be exactly 75%. for anyone that's familiar with calibrating hygrometers, should 2 TBSP table salt plus 1/2 TBSP water in a small monkey dish, in a gallon bag work? or is it too much water for the salt, too big of a bag, too much or too little time. did the test overnight on 4 different hygrometers for 12 hours, took them out of the bag, and now after 30 minutes to equalize to room temp, are not only once again wildly off, but the lowest is reading what I would imagine to be 10 percentage points of how humid the room "feels". maddening. thanks.

This has been bugging me for a while now, windows 10, new motherboard, HDMI to 4k tv [600 nits], intel uhd on board display adapter running at 60hz, when I play a 1080p encoded video with, for example, Windows Movie and TV app, it plays fine, but when I play the same move or show in a 2160p encoded video it shows so much darker to the point of making it unwatchable. Pulled up the same show, one in 1080 the other in 2160 and took a screenshot, and am attaching it to this post. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? The fact I can screenshot it and it looks darker in the screenshot seems to tell me it's not the fault of my TV, but I can't figure out for the life of me, what I would upgrade to allow the 2160p encoded videos to play as bright as the 1080p videos, I know I could mess with the brightness on either the display or the video app, but why should that be necessary (windows Movies and TV app does not have a adjustable brightness, but the "glamour" of the videos it plays beats any other video player out the door, by miles, if you know you know). Cheers.

Is KBIN alive or dying, moved here from lemmy because I'm fundamentally at odds with belonging to any social media platform named after a man who owned the largest personally held collection of nazi memorabilia in the world. It's also cleaner interface, and what I thought was a simpler more all encompassing platform where I could tailor filtering, but can't seen to block users or subs from lemmy.world (amongst others). Notifications haven't worked in weeks, when clicking on the notifications number up on the top right next to profile, it brings up the same error screen (screenshot attached to post). Tried sending email to kbin.social email but haven't heard anything back. Are there plans to fix these issues? Does anyone know? cheers.

**** update: it's not spam , it's just me being a fucking idiot. my apologies. i had two domains blocked, and in doing so, triggered a bug which kbin users sometimes run into, that being specifically not seeing comments if they have any domains blocked, i had two, i deleted the blocks on the domains, and presto, like magic i can see comments. no spam, just stupidity, mine. thanks again to earnest for the private message which finally clued me in. i'm not going to delete this post and add to yet more broken threads.
