I don't know much about these laptop prices, but i've seen some youtubers trying out 30 35 dollar laptops, but considering that it can be a scam I will consider buying a 50 60 dollar laptop instead

Hello everyone, I have never owned a laptop before( PC user from the very start), I want a laptop for my IT career(coding stuff) but I have a really low budget and wanna buy just a second hand laptop that can run some lightweight Linux distro. The thing is that laptop prices are really high here in India, you can get a second hand laptop that has an i5 and 4gb ram for about rs.17000 (204 dollars), my aunt is in Canada and they are coming back to India next year so i can just ask them to bring me a laptop I went to ebay.com and found some really cheap options like "HP ELITE BOOK 840 G1" for just 30 dollars, now the question is that is it okay to buy a 30-60 dollar laptop from eBay and will they allow it while passing through the airport ????

Thanks for the info, I have another question. Can it be used to connect one pc to another maybe for sharing files or for doing some other stuff ?

Do you mean that it was risky connecting one pc to another with this usb to usb cable ???

Yes, its male-male

I don't know much about cables so if type something wrong forgive me ...

I was wondering around with some old stuff, and found this cable that is usb to usb "as shown in the image below"

https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71hHpyqvvnS._AC_UF1000,1000_QL80_FMwebp_.jpg

Now what i thought was that it might be used to connect 2 computers with each other so i tried that and connected 2 computers with each other using it and nothing happened Can anyone tell me what this cable is even used for ???

I've created a diamond pickaxe for it πŸ˜‚

I searched on youtube "how to repair swollen batteries" and they did the same in the videos, but I ignored the warning "do not try this at home"

Actually it is not a troll, I was serious

Sorry if asking wrong people but I've got a samsung galaxy j3 prime, its a really old phone and i lost its charger a year ago, after that until now I was charging it with a different cheap charger, and one day eventually while using the phone the back cover fells of(it has removable back) and then i realised that the battery became swollen, I immediately took the battery out and kept the phone and battery apart for 2 months, now today I lost patience and grabbed a safety pin and did a little hole on both sides of the battery. Now it fits !!!!!! and is much less swollen then before(yes it is still a little swollen)

So I meant to ask would it be safe to use it like that or is there a risk of the battery going kaboom!!! while i am using the phone or charging it ????

EDIT ↓

EDIT - I got rid of the swollen battery and now the mission was to get the smartphone working witty a new battery, so i checked online for new battery for my samsung j3 prime and i found nothing !!! So i decided to take matters in my own hands and searched for some old phone in my dad's stuff (and i found some really old samsung phone in really good condition) I removed their batteries and checked if they will work with the current j3 prime, the problem was that the battery that i found had 3 golden pins and the phone required a battery with 4 golden pins (idk what to call those pins specifically) So i just stuck the 3 pin battery in the phone powered it on and voila it works and after that i made the battery stick to the back of the phone by folding a piece of paper on the empty space(the traditional way), after that i attached the back of the phone and now it is working, the only catch is that the battery backup is quite low but i can live with that. Here the pic of how i made it fix

So i wanted to ask that is it ok to use the new battery? Considering that it has one less golden pin ?

Sleeping in the house's veranda, so no doors πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈ

I am 18 and till this day I have never been inside a cinema, its not like i dont watch movies. I watch movies on amazon prime, but recently I was thinking of watching oppenheimer(sorry if theres a spell mistake), should I go to cinema (Its not about the movie its about should i try going to a cinema) ?? And if yes then should i go alone or with a group of friends ???

Hey, rookie programmer here, I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but what's the use of this language specifically ?

The problem is with senior citizens, even if we tell them to not believe things on internet and tell them to not trust any calls, they will eventually do the opposite once the scammer pretends to be someone close to them. They cant even tell if a normal video is fake or real then how can they tell of someone on a video call is real pr fake, chances are once they see someone dear to them in danger and asking money they will forget everything you've told them about the internet and get scammed ....

The time has come for us to make passwords for identifying each other..

I found it when searching for some old stuff, does anyone else other than me remember this ?

Are there any linux users here, am i asking this in wrong community ?, If yes then sorry

Anyways the first linux for me was kali linux, I was a hopeless kid who wanted to learn hacking, and as everyone thinks linux is for hackers i just did some random google search about "Best linux distro for hacking" and the result was kali linux (since parrot os was not there at the time)

I watched a tutorial on how to install it, and that's where it got worse. We didn't have that much data to download a 3-4GB of iso file, so i went to a nearby friend to use their wifi and downloaded it. When I was installing it I selected the partition in which we stored all our family photos and other memories ( At the time I didn't knew much about partitions and just wanted to try out linux). As I selected the wrong partition the windows installed on that partition and the files got deleted and I got into Kali linux, it took me some time to realise what I have done, but eventually I realised that many files were missing and was not able to boot into windows. Eventually I got scolded so much from my parents, but I don't regret it because that opened up a new world of linux for me (but with some sacrifices)
