I hate "historical" building bullshit. I went to go stay in Seattle for a day and a half so I got a room for the night and then the hotel calls me to let me know it's a historical building so they don't have air conditioning.

This was the middle of August so of course I'm like, why did you call me to tell me this instead of listing it on your site you psychos? And the bitch bragged to me about working at a different hotel that charges $600 a room with NO air conditioning.

I couldn't cancel cause they didn't tell me until last minute either.

Right? Every now and then I find someone who remembers but most people don't remember the forums. I was super active on the forums there back in the day.

Why are we so shitty to each other indeed.

For whatever reason, people like to be better than others. It's something I've never understood and I always try my best to be humble because of it and don't really get off on being competitive like a lot of people do.

You sound like me 10 years ago.

damn do you remember Albino Black Sheep?

Those forums are how I eventually ended up on 4chan back in the day.

It’s already quite easy to forget we are interacting with other humans when we are behind screens and keyboards

I honestly hate that people do this. Maybe its because I work online in customer service and I chat with people online so I always know that I'm talking to a real person - but even before I worked online, I always assumed I was talking to a real person on the other end.

It's wild to me that people become so incredibly inconsiderate that they don't even think they're talking to a human and instead interpret it as "oh I'm just arguing an idea" yeah, you're arguing an idea with a HUMAN.

Sometimes I catch people doing that because they'll respond to me like I'm someone else and I have to be like, hey no, I'm not that person, I'm my own person and you are in fact talking to me now. A person who will react to things being said. Cause you know, human.

I started using 4chan around 2007/2008. It was always like that. It was the place to be if you were a toxic edgelord - a space to openly be a nazi and racist and homophobic.

I remember threads on /b/ back then too where people were looking for a new Hitler.

And they always had that shitty mentality. Be as contrarian as you can and as long as you can antagonize people into reacting, then you got one over on someone.

I haven't been on there since 2020 but I watched it get worse and worse over the years as it spread into the mainstream with things like Gamergate and the fappening. I even tried to tell people but they would just laugh it off cause "4chan"

That writers strike looks damn promising.

blanket lazy statement? Sorry, I just wanted to respond and be concise.. but here.. let me write you a fucking essay I guess.

It was awhile ago but I was at a friends place and she was watching a version of Hulu that had ad's but she was being prompted to pick an ad instead of the ad's just coming on. She got like three choices and after you picked one and watched the ad, there would even be a survey for the ad.

Now, this is something that happened probably a year ago now cause I don't hang out with her anymore. So I could be wrong in that it was Hulu, I think it could have also been an ad version of Amazon's streaming service. She was one of those people that uses a ton of other people's passwords to stream stuff. You know before a lot of them blocked that. Again, like a year or so ago.

I mentioned YouTube Tv because that's what I have. And I did choose to get it fully knowing it had ad's and that I wanted there to be ad's. Please let me know how that isn't a choice or how that isn't me choosing to see ads.

I also have a ton of VHS recordings spanning back to fucking late 70s that have ads in them! And I have those because of the fucking ads!

Like sorry but this is a choice for me. I think ads from the past are interesting and I like being able to compare them to now. Sorry I'm just that rare kind of nerd.

but I get it. You're worried the world has been taken over by ad's and that's why we're living in a dystopia. You said future but I'm in the US lmao. It's already dystopian here. Like too late.

Also I've heard a lot of people are like, falling out of favor with shitty streaming services and they're doing what I've been doing for years now. Going back to physical media. See, I'm not worried cause where I'm at, its fine to watch cable tv and collect VHS tapes and DVDs.

Nostalgia's a great feeling.

Oh yeah, I use to work at a pest control company making their appointments.

Most apartment complexes just signed up for the year packages to keep the places free of stuff like ants cause that's the big issue where I live. Roaches are rare but bed bugs are also common. Bed bug treatments are crazy expensive too, even for just a single unit of an apartment building, their prices were into the $1000's.

And then for house calls where they got bed bugs, even more money. In fact, most people who had houses who called in for bed bug rates would back out half way through the treatment because they couldn't afford to continue.

absolutely terrible to get caught with bed bugs. If you don't already, get the plastic bed coverings to keep them out.

People attach a stigma to bugs without realizing - you don't need to be dirty or live out in the woods, bugs are just out there and can and will get into your house. The only way to stop that is to be preventative.

You know, I think I remember hearing something about that in passing. Might be a cool deep dive for later.

hey so does that mean they're gonna stop making Japanese street fashion clothes over there? I use to buy directly from TaoBao and a few years ago lolita was still pretty popular in China.
