There’s also the Moms for Liberty organizer who was a convicted sex offender that was identified about a month before the bisexual couple. Their candidates had been losing plenty of local elections before all these scandals came out because it turns out a lot of people don’t want to elect crazy book banning people to their local school boards.

It costs $7 million for a 30 second spot. The Super Bowl is the only event where you can find 1/3 of America watching it, including many who are not into sports but dragged by loved ones to a Super Bowl party, so advertisers have a long history of trying to come up with the most flashy, catchy, outlandish, high production ads they can produce in the hopes that it sticks in the audience’s mind and gets people talking about it so they will tell the other 2/3 of America about talking frogs or whatever the hot new thing is. Each year there are whole articles out there about “this year’s best Super Bowl ads”.

You have to keep in mind that American football is extremely suited to ads with all the breaks in play, so it has been a favorite of advertisers for a long time. I don’t know why so many people fell in love with a game with so little action in the first place, but this is the end result of that.

What makes you think this isn’t how I code? Offices love me, this is way cheaper than a bunch of ergonomic equipment.

One option that is kind of a middle ground is to learn a craft. Knitting, crochet, making fly fishing lures, sculpting. There are lots of things you can do with your hands while listening to a podcast or audiobook, so while it still involves content consumption it also engages your motor skills and creativity and you end up with something to show for it by the time you are finished.

Pocket extensions are a great beginner’s sewing project, nobody can see your pockets in most pants so it doesn’t matter if your stitches are uneven. A basic sewing kit is all you need, you don’t even need a sewing machine.

ICQ is still around, seems like it is mainly used by Russians now.

Glenn Beck is a Mormon and evangelicals don’t really trust Mormons even though they often overlap in their politics.

The Trump fans mostly follow Trump’s personal account which is automatically added to your follow list when you sign up there, they don’t have much reason to seek out the Team Trump campaign account. Biden’s audience is tiny on that platform compared to Trump’s audience.

There was opposition to a solar farm near me that ultimately still got built. I had no idea there were lots of outright bans on building wind and solar now, this is pretty alarming.

Have you not noticed the rise in groups like Proud Boys, Patriot Front, and the Three Percenters? Patriot Front has people on overpasses waving signs in my area and they are in the news several times per year for marching in different cities. Just the other day they were recorded in New York City, unable to figure out how to swipe metro cards to get into the subway, so dozens of them charged on through without paying, so it isn’t like they are staying holed up in rural militia compounds out of sight. Far right extremism is both active and on the rise locally and globally.

There is nothing stopping incarcerated people from running for president, it has been done before. That probably helps to make it less enticing for corrupt politicians and their allies to lock up their opponents on false charges. Unless Trump dies within the next ten months or loses the support of his fanatic base, which both seem unlikely, Trump will be the Republican nominee. Haley might try for VP or try to carry her momentum into 2028.

This article was a wild ride. I have not been keeping up with Square Enix so I had no idea they were all in on the web3 hype and now AI, too. I am wondering what is going on with the title “Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai”, did AI come up with that wordy name? What even is a Strash?

Someone needs to teach this company about sunk costs. Just because they invested in blockchain and AI doesn’t mean they need to keep throwing money and resources at it. Maybe they would have a better marketing budget and better market research into the new trends in their field if they weren’t so busy constantly salivating over all the latest tech bro hype.
