Why can't people include just a few screenshots of their app...

Ngl, in this day and age with ads and cookies riddled in every corner of the Internet. Irc sounds like a breath of fresh air!

Yeah, so far my favourite distro for this is Bazzite, still allowed a lot of customization and is well optimised for gaming.

[–] Sunny 2 points 2 months ago (7 children)

Good to know - thanks. I, too, prefer to customize mine in my own way.

[–] Sunny 2 points 2 months ago

I will try this tonight when i get home, thanks for the suggestions :)

It does eventually boot, but it takes a solid 5 min before it decides to, and not sure how i can troubleshoot it...

[–] Sunny 4 points 2 months ago

Neat tips thanks!

Do you also struggle with extremely long boot times? Whenever I reboot or start the computer up, I am stuck with watching the ROG Asus logo for approx 5 whole minutes... Even if I try to press delete to enter bios, it still takes that long for it to enter bios. However, this doesn't always happen, sometimes it decides to be "quick about it". I've just made sure I'm running the latest bios version, and have set all values back to default values. So not sure what it can be. It only started this year, too, after acquiring the AMD GPU...

I have the same motherboard! I also rock the AMD 6700 XT graphics card, which I acquired this year, so it would defo leave a sour taste in my mouth if this was the guilty puzzlepiece in the my stack.

Whilst trying to install other .iso's late last night i kept seeing the ACPI errors over and over again, which has me thinking this is a problem with my hardware setup, as you suggested by others. Journalctl command results in this if thats to any help; https://0x0.st/Xt2e.txt

and this is lsmod;

lunix@fedora:~$ lsmod | grep amdgpu
amdgpu 17293312 158
amdxcp 12288 1 amdgpu

Recently stumbled upon this note-taking app called SiYuan, but it honestly looks a bit too good to be true(?). Has anyone here used it or got any experience with it? Trying to replace Obsidian is a difficult task, and I've been through almost all note-taking apps there are out there, however this one looks fairly similar.

Backup Game Saves Solutions? (self.linux_gaming)
submitted 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) by Sunny to c/linux_gaming@lemmy.world

Hiya, quick question! Do you have a system for backing up or game save files? I recently discovered GameVault, but the client seems to be a bit unfinished, from first glance, do correct me if I'm wrong. Are there any other similar clients like this? And or simple solutions for easy finding save files and backing them up?

Let me know your solutions!

Hiya,

Simple question really, do you light candles when your cat is around? We've newly got our cat (5 months now), but had never light a candle around here due to the possible dangers. Are your cats curious about candles when lit? I feel like the possibility of them being too curious around them isn't worth the possible risk. We haven't really got a lot of places where the cat cannot reach either. But could maybe get some 'enclosed' candleholders.

Happy to hear what you do guys do regarding this. We quite like having the occasional candle lit.

Anyone tried this thing before? Just came across it, and wondering if this works for my classic Moccamaster machine, for standard black coffee. Looks and seems like a promising product!

I truly wonder what Lemmy has to say about this partnership. This is going to make a interesting discussion i think. Personally have no experience with Qwant, what they are and their policies.

Recommendations for RaspberryPI 4B case?

Hiya, so I have a spear RaspberryPI 4b, and want to selfhosted HomeassistantOS on it, heard there were some advantages of running the full OS and not just the docker container. However I currently don't have a casing for it.

So: Is there anything I should know before buying one? Does the rpi get very hot running HomeassistantOS? E.g. Do I need one of these cases with a fan built into it? Or is it OK without?

Appreciate any tips or suggestions! however I will not order anything from Amazon or Ali Express or any of those type of websites. Feel free to recommend via them though as I might find the same case elsewhere, perhaps.
