What's In The Box?

This Kickstarter is for a boxed starter set which takes your 5E core rulebooks and 'upgrades' them by introducing you to some of the new rules in Level Up. Unlike the standalone Level Up hardcover core rules, this starter set assumes you know how to play 5E, or have the 5E rules, and we just show you the new stuff!

What Is Level Up?

Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition (A5E) launched in 2021 and is a standalone game which enhances the 5E ruleset which you know and love. If you love 5E but would like a little more depth to the rules, Level Up is the new game for you!

After two years of extensive public playtests and surveys involving thousands of players, and input from our active community, we completely overhauled the 5E game system. From redesigned classes to a full exploration pillar, we revisited every aspect of the game to present this new standalone game, backwards compatible with the 5th Edition core rules.

Vortex will continue to be our primary, supported mod manager for the foreseeable future and will be the application that we provide to support modding for upcoming titles such as Starfield.

Alongside the continued development of Vortex, Tim (Halgari) has put together a new team of experienced developers from the community to begin work on our next generation of mod management software - dubbed the "Nexus Mods App". The app team combines the skills of developers who have worked on Vortex, Mod Organizer 2, Wabbajack and several other modding tools.

The Nexus Mods App will be a ground-up reimagining of what we (and you) want our mod manager to be, building on the lessons learnt from Vortex and NMM before that.

It might be noted that this is not the first time Comedian has been eaten, although I don't know if this is the same "edition".

The piece, designed in three editions, isn't just a single sculpture but a concept with a certificate of authenticity and instructions for its display, which I think freely allows for the replacement of the banana. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comedian_(artwork)

To summarize a few bits of the article, in case anyone else was wondering why graphene over silicon was better and if it was better why not graphene over silicon until now.

Why

  • "ten times the performance and low consumption of power"
  • "two hundred times stronger than steel" "unmatched compared to silicon"
  • "thermal and electrical conductivity is better than copper"
  • "lightweight, measuring less than one milligram per square meter"

Why not

  • "Graphene-based chips are complicated to produce and are highly expensive to create"

Sorry, I didn't see this until now, but I think what was meant by that is that they would not allowed to fish anywhere where an Ohio fishing license is required.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley...Runyan and Cominsky were indicted on charges of attempted grand theft, cheating, possession of criminal tools and unlawful ownership of wild animals, O’Malley said in a news release. The criminal tools charge stemmed from allegations the pair used Cominsky’s boat during the competition, the release said. Authorities seized the vessel and its trailer Tuesday.

Their arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 26

I've heard some stuff like they will be banned from both professional and recreational fishing but I cannot confirm if that is true. The NPR article also mentioned they were disqualified from a previous tournament for failing a polygraph test and their winnings were stripped. I heard they (or one of them) were in the middle of contesting that, but I cannot confirm that either.

I can however confirm that while they failed the 2021 Fall Brawl fishing tournament's polygraph tests they later passed subsequent ones as well as voice stress tests. However due to this incident Fischer, the tournament director for the Lake Erie Walleye Fall Brawl,

said that going into this year’s Brawl, tournament organizers had made changes to the way they will administer the polygraph tests and that they are also considering other changes to uphold the integrity of the derby.

So it seems that despite the flaws of the polygraph test and even the inventor possibly regretting its invention, the fishing tournaments will still use it. Then again, I'm not sure if they have any better alternatives.

"We got weights in fish!"

The 2021 world’s whitest paint, for which Ruan was entered into the Guinness World Records, had to be applied at a layer of 400 microns thick, which is only possible for robust and stationary objects like buildings.

For things like airplanes, cars, or anything that comes with weight restrictions, 400 microns is too dense a coating to be useable.

Anyone able to put into perspective how 400 microns vs 150 microns matters that much? I understand that extra weight when sending things to space is expensive but how does it compare to say smuggling a gorilla costume aboard the ISS, flame decals or other stuff people put on their cars, or whatever other examples (preferably better than my examples at least) that makes 400 microns too dense?

I know there is something like a "Rule of Three" when it comes to backups where the rules seem to differ, but one of the rules usually mentions off-site backups. The scenario usually talks about an unexpected fire destroying everything in the home, but recently with Hurricane Ian in Florida for example, the entire region could be flooded so even storing a backup at a nearby friend or relative's place might not be sufficient.

In a case like that, I wonder if having a water/fireproof safe would be good enough if cloud storage is not an option. It seems most waterproof safes are water resistant for up to 72 hours, but it might be better instead to just disconnect and take the backups with you if you need to evacuate and have time.

It has resolved itself but I saw someone else had the same issue (on the Beehaw Discord), so I thought it may happen again. I hope this helps in diagnosing the problem.

Between about 9:40 AM Eastern and 9:44 AM on 2022-08-15, I got the message on the page tried to open and the main page of beehaw.org:

404: FetchError: invalid json response body at http://lemmy:8536/api/v3/site

I don’t think it was a browser or extension problem since I was able to view Beehaw on my phone just fine but here’s the info just in case.

I primarily use Firefox on desktop (Windows 10), but I immediately tried a private Firefox tab and both Edge and Chrome (no extensions). The private tab, Edge, and Chrome said:

404: FetchError: invalid json response body at http://lemmy:8536/api/v3/site? reason: Unexpected end of JSON input

I use an Android phone and Beehaw was fine on both Firefox and Bromite using my phone’s data/not wifi. I was signed in to my Beehaw account on the desktop Firefox but not on any of the other browsers.
