This was the first movie I ever took my kids to see at the cinema (out of two movies ever). I thought it was good but the re-watch-ability is low. It's not a genre thing, it's just that Disney hasn't really put out anything good since Moana. Frozen 2 is a terrible movie. The one in Colombia was a terrible movie. Raya was insulting.

There's a reason that Iger was brought back.

Also, mentioned many times, Disney doesn't get to define or legitimize solarpunk any more than they get to define Southeast Asian culture with their generic "age of empires" music score.

Yeah, it's just pandering to the crowd at this point. They can bring these people up and have him say vile things and pretend it's not what they really believe because, "comedian." It's not even a dogwhistle anymore. They are saying these things in the open.

And still about 50% of Latino men will still vote for Trump because they aspire to be white and want to prove that they are "not like the other Hispanics." They want to be "one of the good ones."

(The lasting legacy of Catholicism/colonialism is white worship. The same applies to Vietnamese-Americans and Filipinos as well)

Don't act surprised if this guy gets elected and all of the stuff they've been saying out loud (but saying it's a joke because its an election and they need useful idiots to vote for them) becomes reality.

No, you aren't "one of the good ones." You are brown. You aren't one of them. You never will be.

This is what they think of us.

Sisko was killed in TNG's universe. Sisko survived in DS9's universe due to the prophets saving him. The Trek universe diverged at Wolf 359.

The Dominion War has drastically different outcomes. Existential crisis in one universe where Sisko does a lot of meddling; barely mentioned in the other.

The biggest change to the cast is that Worf marries Jadzia Dax and becomes Ambassador to the Klingon Empire in one universe; in the other universe, he does a brief inconsequential stint at DS9 (without Sisko), never marries, then returns to the Enterprise E as pretty much the same character from TNG, and at some later point, he gets the Enterprise E destroyed.

The Picard timeline is set in the universe where Sisko died at Wolf 359.

Yeah, IMO they found their sound on From the Cradle to Enslave -> Midian -> Bitter Suites era; tried something different when they got all that Sony money for Damnation; and then reverted back to this sound on every album since then. Like Megadeth or AC/DC, you know what you're going to get.

Good to see they are still out there touring. IIRC, Dani Filth turned 51 in July.

Not an ounce of athleticism in Ted Cruz's body.

Which isn't a disqualifier for his position. But since it's Ted fucking Cruz we're talking about, it's fair game. He might be the only person on the planet who looks less intimidating with a beard.

Maybe he should stay in his fucking lane. Hope you Texans can help him figure that out in ten days.

Depending on your ethnicity, it was a great resource to talk about things that aren't comfortable in the USA or the West in general. TikTok was a place for people to celebrate heritage and culture and find recipes. (So was YouTube in the early days before about 2010).

It also talked about uncomfortable topics and this was the downfall. For example, TikTok was full of live streams from the protests. Going to YouTube at the same time, the default videos were young black men talking about How to be a good citizen, how to comply with police and not be arrested, that sort of shit. TikTok algorithm promoted videos that talked about colonization and it's lasting legacy in SouthEast Asia and the colonization of the New World and how the French drowned the offspring of their slaves in the Mekong River. YouTube algorithm promoted "serious" videos about people receiving the Holy Ghost and debating "speaking in tongues", the authenticity of Jesus, and conspiracy theories that start with the Christian framework being the true reflection of the world. TikTok talked climate change, YouTube promoted muscle cars. TikTok was notoriously pro Palestine. It was night and day the difference, like unplugging from the Matrix. It went against the "consensus" narrative. Normal people who used TikTok were talking about "Israeli genocide."

And then the Congressional inquiries resumed and one of the only bills receiving bipartisan approval from this Congress passed and was signed into law, all in about a week.

Now TikTok looks a lot like YouTube. Tradwives and Jesus people spreading the Gospel and people defending Trump. Moon landing wasn't real. It's a cesspool. Marines defending Israel. Underage girls dancing. Oxford study women singing about wanting blue eye finance white dudes. It's just garbage and I imagine that change will suddenly result in the upcoming "ban" being rescinded.

And we will have to find somewhere else to go.

TikTok is dead.

No, I didn't want a dark Section 31 series based on the Discovery/Picard "Dark Trek" writing style.

Michelle Yeoh winning the Oscar was an easy cop out. Now she's in another league in terms of salary, and Paramount can't afford to pay her for a streaming series. Both sides go their separate ways and the idea is dropped.

Fortunately for us, she loves the character and wanted to do at least one final act. So I guess the compromise is the movie instead of the series.

And that is cause for optimism because it likely means the script was good enough to draw her back, and concise enough that the Section 31 thing won't be dragged out.

Hey, we're finally getting a new Trek movie, and it has a big name actress behind it.

I was kind of hoping that after 2023, she would decide to not do this. I think Michelle Yeoh is fantastic, generational actress; but I'm highly skeptical of recent Star Trek works. She is by far the biggest name to return to the franchise.

Hopefully, they have an excellent story to match.

I'm surprised that she decided to do this.

She is by far the most decorated person to ever come back to Star Trek.

I don't disagree. It comes fast. Take care of yourself my friend.
