You seem to think getting angry at people motivates them to vote for you lol.

And yeah the word fascism means nothing to the average voter. They don't even know what that word means. Calling Trump a fascist (which he is) is not a winning political strategy.

She didn't lose because of non-voters. Nearly every single district in the country shift further red. Even deep blue districts had higher red turn outs. She lost the same way Hillary did. Yes sexism and racism had a role in it, for sure. But they also both lost because of absolutely abysmal campaigns.

Trump campaigned on change. It doesn't matter what change he was talking about, most people don't understand the nuances of politics. The whole thing vaguely confuses a lot of people. He was very much "I won't be like the last guy" and that is a winning political strategy. People understand that their lives have sucked the past 4 years, they don't understand the nuances of why, but they know Trump said he will change things. Conservative media tells them democrats just lie about Republicans. And they believe it.

We can yell at Republicans and their voters, sure. Just like the other German parties were free to yell at the nazis and the people who voted for them. But is that productive? Does that actually get them anywhere? Do you think the Republicans will change their strategies if we get mad them? Do you think their voters will vote differently if we tell them they're fascists?

Unless you're planning on overthrowing the current system of politics in America then you have to some kind of belief or notion that dems can win the next election. So the only people it even comes close to making sense to criticize are the Democrats. This election wasn't stolen from them. The people voted. The people chose Trump. It was Harris's one job to be more popular than Trump, to rally more support. She categorically failed at that. Bernie is right about why.

Youre still not getting it. Yelling at voters will get you literally nothing. If your goal is a future where Republicans don't control America then you need people to vote Democrat. Yelling at them isn't going to achieve that. Unless you're going to go full doomer on me and say that you don't care what happens anymore, in which case why are you even participating in this conversation?

Blame entirely rests on the democratic party. That is the reality of the broken American political system. No one else is responsible for their political campaign failing to gain votes. They were given warning after warning after warning, they didn't listen. This is the outcome created by those politics.

Cool. We can't control them, though, unless you've come up with a method of forcing people to vote. The democratic party campaign was supposed to get popular support. People were supposed to want to vote for them. That's the whole point of political campaigning. The democratic campaign was wildly unpopular on every single point other than "isn't Trump". They cozied up to fascist talking points time and again, border military and ethnic cleansing. She barely even campaigned on any progressive points. It was a joke of a campaign.

The democratic party has lost touch with reality. They will welcome fascists in with open arms. Those images won't ever be forgotten.

Atlantic Canada. Cheap cost of living compared to the rest of the country, beautiful environment, lots of nice small communities.

I had one. They are not made for winter driving lol. But they are absolute tanks. Idk if they actually are heavier than other cars I've driven or just feel that way lol

That's so smart and insightful of you! You're so right the democratic party should do everything exactly the same all over again. It'll totally win them the election this time!

[–] LadyAutumn@lemmy.blahaj.zone 30 points 6 days ago

You're right that leaving is your best bet. That isn't a reality for millions of queer people, however. Leaving isn't always feasible, or many of the queer people still in deep red states would already be gone.

It's time for us to make moves to prepare ourselves to contend with this administration and political agenda. Networks need to be made, connections between suppliers of DIY hormones and communities at risk of losing Healthcare need to be established.

As much as we need to help people get out, we also need to confront the fact that not everyone can, and this is the reality we live in now. I'm just saying, "Get out while you still can" isn't enough. We need to ready ourselves for a much more long-term fight against this system. Everyone who can should be getting involved.

I appreciate the enthusiasm for social upheaval, but I wouldn't call a civil war a good time.

I read that sweet potato line as implying that the commenter themselves had voted for him, my bad.

I do agree that every human being has a duty to not vote for Hitler. I mean, that was supposed to be the point of the post world War 2 Western education system. Didn't work out for a lot of reasons.

But I also believe that many people don't understand what "voting for Hitler" even means or that Trump poses a threat to them. They don't understand politics. They don't understand the way the capitalist economic system functions. They think of it as some ethereal force that gets worse when you control it and gets better when you don't. They think rich people are brilliant geniuses who have divine knowledge of the economy that allowed them to become so rich. They don't get it. The political strategy of progressives has to account for that. The democratic party isn't a party of progressives. It's a party with a minority of progressives in it, but beyond them, it is the party of the status quo. The status quo has gotten worse, that much people do understand. And they chose the guy who said he was going to change it. He said he'll fix it and they believed him.

Did the commenter say they voted for Trump?

The people who voted for Trump over Kamala are not the leftists on lemmy. I've actually only seen one or two people say that they're going to vote for Trump for some leftist reason. The majority of people said they would vote for her anyway, and a minority of people said they were abstaining.

You sound really foolish mischaracterizing your opponents. The democratic party failed. Kamala Harris failed. There was no sabotage. She campaigned a conservative platform of military, border control, unwavering support for Israel and said she was going to maintain the status quo. When asked what she would do differently from Biden her gut response was "nothing". It was a spectacular failure and highlights every single way that the democratic party has entirely lost touch with reality.

Cost of living has tripled in the last 4 years. Now try telling white working class straight people who weren't living paycheck to paycheck 4 years ago that you're going to do everything the same as the guy that came before you. The same guy who broke up the rail workers strikes. No, us trying to explain fascism or project 2025 to them did literally nothing. They don't understand it and don't care. They know that their financial situation got worse and that the democratic candidate said they wouldn't change anything. That's all they understood. They don't know what's fact or what's fiction, and they think Trump is a brilliant businessman. It doesn't matter that he's not if they all think he is.

The DNC failed. Stop trying to defend them for God's sake. How are they ever going to actually pose a challenge to far right populism or fascism if you relentlessly defend them from all criticism?

I'm fine with people venting, but thats not the same thing as saying "Just remember that anyone who enabled Trump... on the left... committed an act of violence against the LGBT community... These communities, even on lemmy, should not be allowed to come back from this transgression.". Anyway, I've said what I will on it. You are welcome to continue to participate here, just not to do that.

So say my main page is sorted TopSixHours, but I open a community and change the sort there to New. Would it be possible for Jerboa to continue to sort that community by New when I open it in the future?

I'm having trouble finding good intro resources for parents of trans kids, so if anyone has any handy please send them my way.

I also added a hotline section based on !ftm@lemmy.blahaj.zone. If anyone else can think of any UK or other international hotlines you think should be listed, please let me know. I also tried to list times when 2SLGBT services are specifically available.

I looked into each resource to try and come up with rough descriptions for each of them, if you think I misrepresented or miscommunicated what a particular resource is or does - let me know :)

I also decided to add a specific rule against all forms of debate or gatekeeping. This group is and should be a welcoming supportive environment for all transfeminine people.

Hello everyone! (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

I'm LadyAutumn and I'm the moderator of this community. I hope everyone has enjoyed their time on Lemmy thus far. This space is very much still developing, but its nice feeling like a transfem community is developing here.

I myself migrated to lemmy from reddit just last week, and created this community initially to mimic the subreddit r/mtf. I used that subreddit a lot, and loved having a place to talk with other people who understand what I'm going through. I knew if I'm going to use this platform long term, that on lemmy I would want a community for transfeminine people.

This space isn't on reddit though, and isn't controlled by or related to the moderation team of r/mtf. So things here won't be exactly the same. I want this to be a community for news, for advice, for trans joy, for discussions and questions, and whatever else we want to have here. I want this space to be community controlled and for everyone to have an influence on what this community is and how it is moderated. That will mean polls and community posts and whenever they come up I'd encourage everyone to participate in them. This is a space for us, and we all should have a say.

Also thank you @ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone for hosting the lemmy.blahaj.zone instance that is hosting this community. She's doing this without any profit motive and has been working hard to keep up with the huge influx of users around here lately. She's awesome and has already been an active part of this community.

I figured I'd make a post sharing my perspective on this community and what I think it should be. If you have any thoughts or suggestions please feel free to share them. :)

The results of the poll showed a clear preference for the title to be Transfem. The link to the community will still show !mtf but everywhere else it will show "Transfem".

The results were:

Transfem - 41/53

MtF - 12/53

The banner has been updated to reflect the new community name. :)

I always feel so much better when I wear clothes I like and don't feel way too warm in the heat. It's hard not to listen to the nagging voice in my head telling me that my shoulders look too big or that I'm drawing too much attention to myself. 🙃

Its hard to justify the cost mostly. It's also mildly amusing watching people stumble a bit if I have to show my ID for something. But getting called my deadname at the bank is starting to get tiresome 🙃

I recommend reading the linked article for more information. This grifter is attempting to capitalize on hormone bans and medical gatekeeping to sell fake hormone 'alternatives' to trans people.

Long story short the pills are fake, they do not contain estrogen nor do they metabolize into estrogen. They contain unrelated substances that at best don't work and at worst can have serious negative consequences for your health.

The marketing he's attempting to use is so ham-fisted most will probably be able to tell right away that its a scam, but what he's doing should be taken extremely seriously.
