@FaceDeer Tbf we haven't had access to something that can talk like a human but isn't until recently.
@Hank It's just a nice thing in text based communication in general, as there are no tone or body cues to indicate sarcasm.
@Saturdaycat That's only available from 18 years old+ (you have to give google your age/credit card data) and is otherwise tracked by Google. Is not so much better than the comparatively unrestricted Bing Chat
@alyaza I am conflicted on this. While I feel like it's probably the right thing to do as Meta would just destroy the fediverse if it entered it, it makes me uncomfortable that this network that is supposed to be so open and connected with each other can be so easily and glibly made into what is essentially yet another privately controlled website.
@ISOmorph For a government that's been all for user privacy and freedom, making Apple use USBC, allow alternate app stores, and the like, it seems out of character for the EU to ban end to end encryption
