I work in a café, so I really only pay for my coffee on my days off.
I average maybe half a pound of beans per month for home brewing, so let's say $20 for a nice bag from a local roaster (in Canada-bucks). Ten or so dollars in V60 filters is enough to last me most of a year, so add a dollar a month. I also like checking out cafés, so add $15/$20 in random café visits, and I'd typically spend anywhere from $20 to $40ish per month.

Using the name of a place to refer to its residents is super common and widely-understood. It's a form of metonym.
Another example of metonymy would be "White House cracks down on crime", obviously the White House is a building and cannot enforce laws. "White House" in this situation is a metonym for the President and/or their administration.

What happens to chicks is an intrinsic part of egg farming, though.

I'm by no means an expert though, so take my suggestions with a grain of salt.
You don't need even near the amount of male hatchlings that get produced for reproductive purposes. The vast majority of male chicks on egg farms get ground up.
Also, from an animal rights standpoint, "hey we don't kill all of them, we need some males in order to subjugate their offspring to cruel conditions!" is more of an argument against egg farming than for it.
Government when funding public transit: multiple feasibility studies, public opinion surveys, town hall meetings
Government when funding car infrastructure: "Eh fuck it, plop it down and we'll figure it out later"

For a savory breakfast, my go-to is tofu scramble. I keep my spices premixed in a mason jar so it's really easy. Oil in a pan, crumble up the tofu, add spices and a can of black beans. If I'm feeling fancy or have veggies I want to use up, I'll fry those up a bit before adding the tofu.
For dessert-breakfast, (vegan) waffles with maple syrup and fresh strawberries is my Saturday morning staple.
