It does take space on the hard drive. Can easily remove desktop shortcuts. Telemetry on open source software doesn't usually happen without consent and you can turn it off (Firefox for example).

This is more of a feeling type thing. If it makes you feel good though, go ahead.

Non-running software doesn't affect performance as it isn't anywhere near your RAM or CPU. What often people perceive of bloat is frequently software dependencies that are likely to be used over the course of the OS's usage.

Often I have found bloat free setups end up taking hours of digging out dependencies on multiple occasions. Life is too short. I have things to build.

Chromium can fuck off. FF is king.

Rolling distro, up to date kernel, very good KDE support, stable?

OpenSuse Tumbleweed has got you covered.

Though this weird bloat fetish usually leads to Arch...

You don't, you can compile from source.

Unreal is a top class engine. Yes, it's proprietary and you always have to be cautious, but right now, it's an engine that delivers top features that can build great games and isn't run by Unity. If you win big, you need to pay, but you know that going into it.

Godot is great and improving all the time but it needs maturity.

It was a head vs heart decision and the head won this time.

But some won't consider it. I was 2 months into a project and abandoned it. I'm now knee deep into another project in Unreal. If this doesn't go well, it'll be Godot, or Bevy or Armory. Unity is dead to me. It's still the same company run by the same board and I do not trust them.

Most don't switch as they have in house skills that would cost to retrain. The real kicker is the big studios of the future that started their projects on Godot. Those Godot games that succeed (like Cassette Beasts or Brotato) may fund the big studios of the future, and you know their leads will be Godot specialists looking for Godot devs.

Other big studios may trial Godot, but when the seed is planted, the trees take 2 to 5 years to mature.

Too late, moved to Unreal.

If this doesn't work out, Godot will be the next port of call.

Did he though, or his friends? The whole concept of manslaughter, and murder in the first and second degree is based on intent. Robbing a place is not as bad as murder, I'm sorry. That's ridiculous.

Guns can be used a deterrent. I mean, the US have nukes. Mutually assured destruction. There isn't the intent to use it, just to have it to protect yourself. It's weird they hold kids to a higher standard than their own foreign policy.

Breaking and entering is stupid. It isn't a plan to murder someone though.

I'm from the UK here. That would be manslaughter. Not murder. The whole concept of felony murder is insane and illogical. They went in to rob a place, and theft here would probably be like 5 years actual time behind bars. Here, the case would sit against the cop, and it would be weighed up to be self-defence, so no real charge. This dude, unless he had intention to kill, but simply was involved in the process of theft, then he really shouldn't be held responsible for other people's actions because he made a decision to go there. He's just a dumb kid who made a silly mistake. Basically taking their life away for a fuck up.

The part of the brain that processes risk isn't fully developed until like 24ish, so holding them accountable for something they cannot accurately make a decision on is weird punitive nonsense. Has it led to an actual decrease so is effective as a deterrent? Nah.

Have you got a source that shows that data of FF users actually went to AccuWeather or is this purely speculation?

Hi. Is there a tool to see fastest growing Lemmy communities? It's easy to see the big communities, but it would be helpful to see fast growing communities to join in with community building for things you may have an interest in. is there anything that currently does this?

Requesting: c/degoogle@lemmy.ml My post: https://lemm.ee/post/663113 but also have a few comments on there.

No mods are set for this community.

My intention is to recover this community and avoid fragmentation which almost happened here: https://lemmy.world/comment/812055

This one is definitely the hardest and is the least mature. Have you managed to get off Google on your phone?

I'm using GrapheneOS (Degoogle'd android) on a Pixel 6a. The irony isn't lost on me that I had to buy google to get off google.

I had tried Pinephone and Plasma mobile, but it still needs more work and I needed a phone sooner as my old one was failing.

How about you? Did you manage to get away from Google?
