I think you meant lag. But this is a good one. One of my favorite words. It seems to be used in technical settings a lot, especially for electricity. I read an article a while back that applied it to social situations I.e. social hysteresis. It applies to so many things its ridiculous.

Two of my favorite:

Why do people still think vaccines cause autism despite the overwhelming evidence against? Social hysteresis.

Why do people think inflation is out of control in the US despite the fact that its been less than 3% for over a year? Social hysteresis. (Also because people want deflation)

Yep, EO's are still subjected to judicial reviews.

This ruling doesn't let Biden write new laws. But, he could put out an EO and then use force to enforce it. He could put one out, that then gets overruled, then he could just claim that the justice department was wrong.

This is so fucking stupid

"Under Harris, the D.A.'s office obtained more than 1,900 convictions for marijuana offenses, including persons simultaneously convicted of marijuana offenses and more serious crimes.[73] The rate at which Harris's office prosecuted marijuana crimes was higher than the rate under Hallinan, but the number of defendants sentenced to state prison for such offenses was substantially lower.[73] Prosecutions for low-level marijuana offenses were rare under Harris, and go her office had a policy of not pursuing jail time for marijuana possession offenses."

From her Wikipedia page (the reference is pay walled and im not invested enough to figure it out).

I've really been enjoying Faux Fiction. I haven't disliked a single one of their songs. They are more indie/rock than metal, but still goes hard.

This is a bit of a rumor as the truth isn't known for sure, but supposedly sushi as we know it today also started in Canada. Rolled raw fish was a thing for a while, but putting rice on the outside may have started in Canada.

From Wikipedia: "Although the true origin is disputed, it's widely believed that Chef Hidekazu invented the California roll (originally called "Tojo-maki") in Vancouver, by inverting the roll and putting rice on the outside to make it more accessible to Western tastes, and adding non-traditional ingredients like avocado."

I'm a little disappointed that the appropriations committee required further studies before it goes into effect. Originally it was supposed to be effective immediately, but now it doesn't start till January of 2025.

Either way, this is great news for so many people struggling with mental health conditions. Really happy to see it. I'm thinking this transition will happen a lot faster than marijuana.

One note of caution, Gavin Newsom has refused to comment on this bill so far. No one really knows where he stands and so he could veto it. We just don't know.

The only reason I don't pirate music is because of discovery. I haven't found a good way to find new music without using a streaming service. And then, I'm already using a streaming service, so why bother.
