Here is the video about the Disney Studios in France, the "worst Disney park ever": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgM4R997h-I

Another example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQmglXlqOFY

There are even roller coaster credits that people can hunt: https://coaster-count.com/

The channel Defunctland is incredible, they cover subjects I would never be interested in and make them so compelling

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yjZpBq1XBE

The plot twist about Disney's animal kingdom at 1:15:22 was one of the most mind-blowing things I've watched

[–] Resol@lemmy.world 10 points 5 months ago

His episode about the Nickeloden Hotel in Orlando, Florida, as well as Disney's very forgotten food item, the Handwich (catchy name) is what I liked the most.

He even made a documentary that revealed who composed the Disney Channel theme song.

Beekeeping. Just don't start is my advice. Don't get fascinated by the little buggers and their life cycle, don't get hooked on honey. Don't sit by the hive entrance watching the foragers come and go. Don't spent hours reading books and blogs, watching videos and browsing catalogues. Don't talk to other beekeepers. Don't take classes to expand your knowledge, don't take exams, don't get into microscopy to further expand your knowledge. It's too late for me - save yourselves!

I semi recently discovered train hopping channels. Mainly Gifgas, but there are a few related ones that cross over into urban exploration (shiey for example). Especially the train hopping is something I would never do myself, and I guess that's why it's so fascinating.

It's something I would've done when I was younger, now I just daydream of being so free of responsibilities that this would be something I'd consider doing.

Domesticated foxes, apparently a Russian scientist domesticated foxes within 60 years or so by selective breeding for innate friendliness and you can buy one for about 9,000 bucks and have a domesticated fox.

Big raccoon as a pet dive today also, but the fox was the most recent dive.

[–] steal_your_face@lemmy.ml 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Are they still stinky though?

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Nobody mentioned their stinkiness, and there was lots of nuzzling and hugging in the videos, so that might just be a byproduct of wild stinky animals, rather than domesticated less stinky animals.

Although I have not seen a single video about washing a fox yet!

Sounds like it's time for some more research

[–] Zorque@kbin.social 1 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I think their stinkiness is less about hygiene and more about marking.

Got it, thanks

I’ve been watching educational videos about the efficiency of different turbocharger geometries. It’s a fascinating area because it depends heavily on how you define efficiency.

I drive a 12 year-old Corolla. I don’t know how to change my own spark plugs.

[–] Resol@lemmy.world 8 points 5 months ago

DankPods made me interested in vintage electronics, high end audio equipment, and some other very niche things. The owner of that channel also has other channels that talk about cars, drums and cymbals, and video games. Before all that, he used to remix Simpsons episodes.

There's also Jenny Nicholson that doesn't always, but often posts videos about theme parks because it's a huge interest to her.

Link her to her YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/JennyNicholson

She JUST released a 4 hour review of the already-defunct Star Cruiser hotel thing, it’s wonderful.

[–] GammaGames@beehaw.org 4 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

And if you go rewatch her Star Wars land prequel (from 4 years ago) she says the 40 minute video is really long 😆

[–] Stamets@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I don't understand who would watch that? Like who would spend 4 hours and 5ish minutes watching it? Why would the little costume changes make a difference? Or finding out about her cute little droid? Or the shame closet? Or her being ghosted by the first order? Or being annoyed at the two lil warp windows? Or be annoyed at the cargo space? Or see her cute costume changes? I mean just odd thing to watch. Totally odd. Totally not enjoyable in the slightest. I totally didn't watch it. Nope. Not at fuckin all.

[–] Interstellar_1@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I, for one, enjoyed it very much.

[–] Stamets@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

Oh same. Sorry, that was sarcasm but not totally obvious. I watched the video a couple of days ago and was thoroughly entertained. She is funny as hell and really came at it from every angle.

[–] Crackhappy@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I'm a big fan of coaster studios on YouTube: https://youtube.com/@coasterstudios?si=LpMZjwPZjNfsTkdT

Small channel with a fun way to review parks and rides with a positive attitude and wonder.

[–] Num10ck@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

back when youtube still supported google cardboard these were awesome in vr360.

[–] NakariLexfortaine@lemm.ee 4 points 5 months ago

Probably culinary history(Love Tasting History) and people training A.I to play games.

I don't know what it is, but something about seeing a thousand iterations try and fail understanding how to move a cube, but quickly grasping launching itself off the edge of the level, makes me laugh.

[–] Protoknuckles@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

I was driving somewhere for work one day and drove past a darts store. Intrigued, I looked up their website and was blown away to find tons of dart tools and accessories. Including competing darts endorsed by different dart champions!

I learnt about this theme park stuff when I learned there was a Hershey's theme park and went to YouTube to see what it was like. Pretty interesting that Hershey's built a theme park for their office town.

[–] Neato@ttrpg.network 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It's actually a pretty good park. Was surprised at quality of rides. I'm not a coaster enthusiast but it felt like they had a big variety.

[–] NakariLexfortaine@lemm.ee 1 points 5 months ago

They keep a decent variety, and the tour of how chocolates made can be a treat for kids. Especially when the smell really hits.

The stadiums an alright venue, too. Went to see a few shows there growing up. The big one I remember was Journey and Def Leppard, people were surprisingly hyped. This was shortly after Journey replaced the lead singer, so I think that was part of it.

Dunno if there's necessarily a scene but I enjoy this guy flexing his huge lighter collection

https://www.youtube.com/@histoireduneflamme1988

also appreciate the 1988 rather then just 88 for... reasons.

Ohhhh that’s why. I have those banned hahaha

[–] Tiltinyall@beehaw.org 2 points 5 months ago

I found a channel dedicated to road side attractions. https://youtu.be/YQRfts3VW4s?si=Kd-Gks6hNM6G1z8L pretty good

[–] Interstellar_1@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 5 months ago

I think it was femboys lol, Velky and Linechu

[–] CrackaAssCracka@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

UK narrow boats and canals. YouTube figured out I like nerdy people being passionate and interesting about the nerdy things they nerd about. Do you think I'm gonna go on a canal boat tour when I go to England? You're god damn right I am.
