Maybe I’m just salty. After all, I am a British player on North American servers, so I will soon have the Mountain Dew exclusive rewards in front of my face with no way of earning them, while my American friends discuss how much Mountain Dew they need to buy to get cool items.

I know the relationship is a bit tangential, but this reminds me of one of my favourite things on the internet:

word of advice for anyone thinking of buying soda for the promo event

Dont

Instead, consider waiting a couple years for when all the rewards are gonna get put on the mogstation. And it'll probably be cheaper than however much mountain dew you would be pouring down the sink. Really, think about what you're missing? "Mountain Zu"? Think of your favorite mount, is some random zu any better? Zu is a regular enemy, you can go out and fight one anywhere, its not some Bajamut Blast or anything, the mount is just a fuckin regular green bird. If you don't participate in the promo then you aren't missing anything spectacular.

This has been a cynical XIV PSA

I remember when there was a set of creature parts in Spore that you could only get from a Dr Pepper promotion, and only in North America, of course.

Got it from good people who were redistributing them, but still, yet another way the assholes at EA tried to make that game worse than it should have been.

Peak capitalism here.

Fans upset they can’t buy a pop themed skin from a corporate sponsorship publicity stunt.

This is an asinine non story and getting upset over missing a Mountain Dew branded dlc is pathetic.
