Let’s see, here’s a short list of awesome movies

Zoolander

Super Troopers

Anchorman

Dumb and dumber

And here’s a list of awesome sequels to those movies

[–] TwigletSparkle@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 6 months ago (4 children)

Bill & Ted

Tron

The Lord of the Rings trilogy

Star Wars trilogy

also I hear a Megamind 2 is in the works without Will Ferrel...?

[–] Amputret@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Why the fuck is Tron on this list? Tron Legacy is a great sequel.

[–] delirious_owl@discuss.online 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I think the second list was the list of good sequels

[–] Amputret@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Ah, I thought it was talking about The Hobbit trilogy, the Star Wars Prequels/Sequels, Bill & Ted Face the Music (though I haven’t seen it myself).

Megamind 2 is already out!

(It's bad)

[–] bionicjoey@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

I recently found out there are actually multiple entries into the megamind franchise, including at least one new feature length movie and a tv series. None of which have any members of the voice actors from the masterpiece that is the original film, and all of which have some of the worst ratings I've ever seen on review sites.

[–] asdfasdfasdf@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Both Bill and Ted sequels were horrible. The third was actually worse than #2.

Bill and Ted 1 was a perfect movie.

[–] spongeborgcubepants@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

perfect

excellent

[–] simple@lemm.ee 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Anchorman 2 wasn't that bad

[–] NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

That movie was absolute trash

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Nobody has an in between anymore. Why must a movie be a 10 or "absolute garbage"? Why no in between??

[–] boaratio@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I legit love Super Troopers 2. I regularly rewatch it, especially the Hockey Night in Canada scene. Highly recommend.

[–] NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

A far cry from its original glory

[–] Tujio@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Happiness in your household was wonderful.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I felt like super troopers was a proper sequel. Enough throwbacks to keep fans entertained without just being a rehash of the old one.

Same with clerks 3.

[–] TheFriar@lemm.ee 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Clerks…3?

I was a huge Kevin smith fan as a kid. But…clerks 3? Is it really worth it? I could get into enjoying some of it again, but I just, yknow, inferred it’d be bad.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

Actually I was thinking of Jay and silent Bob reboot. Clerks 3 is a bit more heavy.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Austin Powers

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 17 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (3 children)

Why can't we just leave well enough alone.

[–] FigMcLargeHuge@sh.itjust.works 8 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

The second they (hollywood) fucked with The Three Stooges I knew they have no boundaries they won't cross. Want to bet they attempt to A.I Bob Barker for another fight scene?

[–] teamevil@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago

Definitely going to be Drew

[–] CaptainSpaceman@lemmy.world 8 points 6 months ago

Corporate greed

Welcome to modern media, where nothing is new and everything is a "reboot" or a "sequel". you'll get regurgitated slop passed between a few media conglomerates and if anything actually ends up decent it'll be canned and wiped from the earth before anyone can see it.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 12 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Sandler's goofy, weird speaking & mannerisms worked when he was 20. They don't work now that he's an aging middle aged man. He just seems... Idk man, I don't have a better word for it. He just seems retarded.

[–] delirious_owl@discuss.online 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Always has. Wasn't that the whole joke of Billy Madison?

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

Waterboy. Little Nicky.

[–] hal_5700X@sh.itjust.works 12 points 6 months ago

Let good things be. Stop it.

[–] originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com 11 points 6 months ago (8 children)

mahn has there ever been a good sequel to a cult classic? i dont think so. this sounds terrible.

[–] ShadowRam@fedia.io 7 points 6 months ago (1 children)
[–] Wogi@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago

Planet of the apes, kinda. On the second try at least.

Mad Max.

[–] Lighttrails@sh.itjust.works 7 points 6 months ago (3 children)
[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

True, but that wasn't made 30 years later. The era and age in which Sandler's material worked is long gone.

you found one!!

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 3 points 6 months ago

While true, there's very very few that were good when made decades after the last one.

[–] rooster_butt@lemm.ee 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I feel like I’m the only person who loved Clerks and did not enjoy Clerks 2 at all

[–] bamboo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Alien / Aliens

Unbreakable / Split (but not Glass!)

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

EMPIRE ?

Dante Hicks: "Empire" had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader's his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings.

Don't do this, Netflix. Happy Gilmore is sacred ground.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Sandler said Shooter McGavin already leaked it... appears they have all the (surviving) cast on board.

[–] Tom_Hanx_Hail_Satan@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I'm not going to watch it but I'm happy shooter is getting a paycheck. He's such an underrated character actor.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

yeah, given sandler's last few years I'm hopeful but not expecting a hit.

[–] Coreidan@lemmy.world 11 points 6 months ago

Sounds extra lame

[–] Hawanja@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago
[–] Lifecoach5000@lemmy.world 6 points 6 months ago (1 children)

How about Grandma’s Boy 2?

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

would love this but there are some serious problems with some of the actors apparently.

Also appears that Allen Covert, the star, is doing more behind the camera work these days. But considering how very on point the movie was deriding the game industry, a return to the universe could be fun.

[–] TurboHarbinger@feddit.cl 6 points 6 months ago

Can he just retire? Please?

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Alternative headline: Netflix executives are completely out of new ideas, and have vowed to never release new content again

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Bring back mind hunter you dumb fucks and maybe I will resub.
