Another Republican who wants to angry-cry impeach Biden?

Get in line, weenie!

Remember the bOtH siDeS antagonists who will tell you not to vote this year? This is the shit they ignore and look past when they post their Biden-BAD hit pieces. Vote this year because lives depend on it. And as an added bonus- it’ll piss them off.

So VOTE.

While otherwise staunchly pro-Israel, Mills has said that he is only supportive of a version of the Israel aid package that included billions in cuts to the Internal Revenue Service — a complete non-starter for Democrats, who control the Senate and White House.

Not so much of a hypocrit as the title implies, but a shithead that tried abusing our idiotic system to force a completely unrelated budget cut to the IRS to be bundled with an otherwise popular (among politicians) bill to give support to Isreal.

Also, unless you are doing tax evasion why would one support budget cuts to the IRS?! I thought republicans cared about financial responsibility?

[–] halcyoncmdr@lemmy.world 19 points 6 months ago

With a smaller budget they can't afford to go after people that can afford actual accountants and lawyers to delay constantly.

They instead can really only go after low earners who can't afford a lawyer at all and have to deal with the IRS directly by themselves, and will just take whatever deal is offered.

It's literally the reason why the IRS recently had their budget increased and so they've been going after the rich that everyone knows aren't even paying the lower percentage they are supposed to.

[–] Wrench@lemmy.world 13 points 6 months ago

It is fiscally responsible for them to neuter the IRS. It means they can save more money! Personally, I mean. Not the government.

When is a reason more of an excuse?

This is what is called a poison pill. With it, Democrats would be forced to choose between swallowing the pill or voting down a foreign aid bill. Now Mills is having a fit that his childish game didn't work.

There’s no consistency at all other than always being awful.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Rep. Cory Mills wants to impeach President Joe Biden for withholding military aid to Israel that the Florida Republican voted against — twice.

Mills, a freshman lawmaker and former arms dealer, argued that Biden's move amounted to a quid pro quo.

"Joe Biden is pressuring Israel, our biggest ally in the Middle East, by pausing their funding that has already been approved in the House, if they don't stop all operations with Hamas," Mills told Fox News.

While otherwise staunchly pro-Israel, Mills has said that he is only supportive of a version of the Israel aid package that included billions in cuts to the Internal Revenue Service — a complete non-starter for Democrats, who control the Senate and White House.

Trump was impeached in part for engaging in a corrupt scheme to benefit himself politically, while Biden is withholding the aid out of concern about Israel's conduct — something that President Ronald Reagan did in 1983.

I have submitted to House counsel and will pursue action tomorrow morning using the Dems’s own language, but Biden’s actual abuse of… pic.twitter.com/bYHrMUG1qr

This would be reasonable outside the international law requirements.
