Internet as an art

Rule 1: All post titles except for meta posts should be just plain "hmmm" and nothing else, no emotes, no capitalisation, no extending it to "hmmmm" etc.

I will introduce more rules later and when I finish doing that I will make an announcement post about that.

For overall temporary guide check out the rules here: https://www.reddit.com/r/hmmm/wiki/rules/

I won't be moving all of them here but I will keep most of them.

The only sort of people who would accept this deal are the ones you don’t want near your children.

I read that a few times thinking they meant the rent was normally that amount and the live in baby sitter wouldn't have to pay it. That would count as their pay. Still a stupid idea but... Yeah as it's wrote, wtf?!

Its for church, honey. Next!

[–] GlitterInfection@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Omg, they were roommates with the children!

[–] retrolasered@lemmy.zip 47 points 6 months ago

Update: the kids and babysitter are gone and the rent for the room is late. Cops wont even foot the internet bill, I cant believe I let them be the ones to investigate this

In my area, they call it "wife."

[–] orangeNgreen@lemmy.world 34 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Certainly people are chomping at the bit for such a position!

"Pay us to live in our house, bathe with us, and watch our kids."

[–] teft@lemmy.world 18 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, that tracks for Lakewood.

[–] SendMePhotos@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Are you nearby? Where is this? Is it like a trashy city?

[–] WamGams@lemmy.ca 12 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Lakewood is a city that only exists because Tacoma banned the filming of Cops, and so Lakewood split off to continue getting money from the production company.

[–] nickwitha_k@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 6 months ago

Hey now. It also exists to provide off-base housing for young soldiers with 20% APR car loans.

Someone needs to report these people to social services. They’re going to end up with some criminal taking an interest in this ad, at best. Who wants that job, if they aren’t family or close friends with the person posting it? Probably some child predator, unfortunately. I wouldn’t be surprised if people like this left their kids at home alone, after not finding a babysitter. I can’t stand people like that.

Isn't there a choosybeggers on Lemmy?

[–] _haha_oh_wow_@sh.itjust.works 13 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Is there a !beggingchoosers somewhere? lol

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 10 points 6 months ago

I would apply do my absolute best to get the job as if I'm really excited about the opportunity, let them make plans and stuff then just not show up.

If they call, me screaming that I need to look after their kids so they can go on vacation, that's when you start negotiating a price, since you have literally nothing to lose, even if they "fire" you that's still a positive.

[–] Tebbie@lemmy.world 8 points 6 months ago

This is called trying to get rid of your kids and TV in one night with no work on your part. Sadly it comes with jail time.

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 8 points 6 months ago

Expound on this "shared shower".

[–] Wahots@pawb.social 8 points 6 months ago

Wouldn't even do this even if there was a lambo given as compensation. This sounds absolutely terrible.

[–] Powdermilkman@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago

I had to double take thinking this must be a local sub. I'm in South Tacoma so I know that area well lol.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 months ago

Then this guy shows up.
