Today we are 5, and have been given a feathery Thing that will probably last 5 minutes.

I've started using Donald trump quotes when patting the cat., dont aske me why. But if you hear a bloke going "I give the best pats. Nobody gives better pats than me. (Mrs B) doesnt give better pats, thats fake news" its probably me.

Yet another day of constant dog barking to put up with. The owners are getting some roof works done to their house and the entire time the trades are there on the roof, the dog is in the backyard barking at them. Obviously this dog is very territorial and in distress, let it inside.

These are the same people who went overseas for 3 months last year and left their dog outside and alone to bark all day long, so I'm not surprised that they think the current situation is completely fine.

Sometimes I wish I lived in the country far away from any moronic neighbours.

Mrs told (not asked) that she was taking my car again. She's still yet to get quotes for repairing the damage.

I dont mind her using it. It's a marriage, we share. But like... have a bit more humility and ASK rather than tell me your taking the car after what happened.

Supposedly Diesel is cheaper than Petrol again but I'm sorry, you scratched my car and haven't had time to repair it (fair) so you can just wear the slightly increased Petrol costs till you DO have time to repair it.

Locked myself out of my house. First time this has happened since I moved in over 4 years ago. Guess I had a good run.

Carpet moths have been culled, yesterday. Partner and I broke out backs cleaning everything top to bottom.

Bug spray (and lots of ventilation for the cat, both sliding doors were open, after I sprayed and left the bedroom for a while), vaccum, floor shampoo, vaccum, floor shampoo, vaccum, bug spray, floor shampoo, vaccum.

Did a walk around this morning and it appears the nests that were starting have been fucked up. Looks like the moths that survived have tried to lay eggs elsewhere (under the dining table), so another spray'n'vacc will be on the cards today.

Still have to clean the shower, and the kitchen floor, and a wipe down of surfaces again. But everything else is seemingly coming together. I'm stuffed, but it's just me today, so wish me luck lol

I found the ginger ninja, came back with the carrier, and saw someone coming out of the house... Spoke to them and it turns out he has an owner!

I asked if it was ok if I took him to the vet for his eyes and they said that they didn't mind but he was fine. That they knew a vet who had looked at him. I've decided to just leave him be and trust that he's ok. He's got an owner so they can make those choices for him. I won't stick my oar in.

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 7 points 7 months ago

I am so glad you saw him again and spoke to the owner. Thanks from all the lost cats.

I bought some chocolate yesterday as a treat, then consumed all of that as a midnight snack.

Don't do it people. It's not worth it the next day...

Cleaning Checklist

Kitchen - completed
Bedroom - completed
Study - completed
Bathroom - still need to do shower glass, but otherwise done
Living room - completed
Balcony - completed

I should wipe down the windows as well, even though my partner said he would, just because it's his day tomorrow.

Put a fork in me, I'm done.

Ok I'm dropping one last song here then I'm going to find dinner and play video games.

This is one where I actually wrote all of the lyrics instead of letting the AI do it: The Stars Aligned

Edit: ok one more because it was one of the first ones I wrote the lyrics for and I wasn't even trying to rhyme, I was just writing whatever popped into my head: Love on Trial

I have one ticket to see Hannah Gadsby at the Arts Centre tonight at 6:15. I'm keen to see it but am not sure if I will make it. If anyone here wants it hit me up its free to a good home (I might need you to DM me your email so I can forward it) and I'll take that as a sign from the universe to not try and do EVERYTHING today.

EDIT: about to disappear into appointments for the afternoon so offer is done because I won't be seeing messages. I will try to make it

I wish to reiterate here as well that New Outlook is an unmitigated insult to users' intelligence and should be avoided at all costs. Some real beta product BS

e: today was really really hectic and I am super wound up about life things and didn't eat until dinner and the downstairs neighbour's TV is infuriatingly loud tonight and aaaaargh.

so I'm going to take that as a cue to have a very early night with some calming music on blast, some melatonin and chamomile tea, and a goddamn scented candle

I can't stop messing around making AI songs. Someone give me a premise and I'll make a banger. Anything. Go nuts.

Last night I made COVID: The Musical and let the AI figure out the lyrics so they're a little clunky but still impressive. I literally just told it to make COVID the musical.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

If you're going to do musicals about diseases how about Jeff Kennett. Sort of like Hamilton but about a real cunt.

Try to fit the words Musclemeanie, FLICK and his bouffant in there. Also how John Howard hated him.

I read a lot of articles from "good" newspapers on current issues and news and really, I'm still ignorant of the background of nearly everything.

friggen newspapers are a waste of time, I would learn more about the world just from browsing wikipedia

(Without posting where I live now, sorry)

Could people please tell me about these areas and how rough they potentially are?

Altona

Broadmeadows

Flemington

Heidelberg

Also how are the suburbs in the inner north?

Thanks.

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 6 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago) (2 children)

Heidelberg: there are 3 heidelbergs. Heidelberg, Heidelberg heights and Heidelberg west. Heidelberg is perfectly pleasant but not exciting. Quiet area with all the basic ammenities - all the supermarket brands including a fancy one (Leos), train station, number of takeaway options, nice parks. Roughness = none to mild. Heidelberg west however is about 30% public housing. So has lots of the problems that go with it. Drugs addicts, mental health issues, youth crime, dumped rubbish in public areas etc. Roughness = mid to high, depends how unlucky you get with your neighbours. Heidelberg heights is in between. Housing prices reflected accordingly in the 3 heidelbergs.

Broadmeadows: Yep rough. Edit: I used to work in the industrial area so maybe my view is tainted.

Altona: hidden gem. Used to be a bit rough but being quietly gentrified, downside to be aware of is some parts can be smelly. The beach seems to be a seaweed prone area and if lots washes up can get smelly as it rots.

Brunswick/Brunswick East is great. I loved living in the area. I got gentrified out, though. You can absolutely live there without a car. The trams down Nicholson and Lygon are so frequent that I never bothered with timetables.

Almost everything is $500+ per week now though, which is crazy.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 5 points 7 months ago

I lived in Brunswick East from 1982 to 2019. Loved it. Just near the Lomond/3RRR. Then moved to Thornbury which is different but still suits me.

I don't live in Altona but visit it. I don't think its too rough but I don't wander round at strange hours. Gets super busy during summer with people from everywhere coming to the beach. Also the west end of the beach has sandbars and seaweed and can get a bit stinky (like rotting seaweed) and muddy when its hot or after a bit downpour. But if you can handle that its not a bad joint.

w00t, did a crossword in 2.5 minutes. I only did the across clues. It was an American grid.

[–] Gibsonisafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Whenever I feel like I need to be humbled, I try a crossword or sudoku.
