this whole investigation was a textbook definition of a witch hunt. and now it's come to light that the entire basis of investigating hunter was from an fbi informant with close ties to russian counterintel. the same people who talked with rudy and the laptop.

hunter has a real good shot at winning a defamation suit against smirnov and rudy imo but I'm not a law talkin guy.

Can we please stop giving a shit about Hunter Biden as thought he matters? All it does is give Republicans a chance to use him as a tool.

In this case, I think focusing on how the republicans absolutely fucked the chicken in trying to fabricate a case against him helps show just how little that the republicans actually have against the Biden family. It also helps to keep reminding people about the connections this case shares with Ghouliani and trump, and makes it harder for them to discredit the stupidly obvious connections that the right has to Russia.

Honestly it's kind of impressive that, as invested as they are in dragging his name through the mud, and with the aid of Russia, they still have nothing of any substance. They've convinced me Joe Biden is a more honest man than I used to believe.

It may not matter to you, but I for one will never vote for him for president again.

You... you voted for Hunter for President? When? How?

[–] RedWeasel@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

You can do write ins.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

I'll consider it if he runs for president in 2026.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

I'd probably still vote for him over most Republicans.

They would only stop giving a shit if Russia won in Ukraine, because it's the Bidens' actions in Ukraine on the lead up to the war that have made it so hard for Russia. That's all this is, payback for helping Ukraine.

If there's a case, we'll there's a case.

I mean, fruit of the poisonous tree is a thing. This isn't without precedent. Not saying that he necessarily shouldn't be prosecuted, but he'd already plead to charges before people started screaming, and prosecution really should be based on evidence in hand, not people crying really hard.

Considering that the average American who does things similar to that, literally just gets wages garnished until it’s paid.

Given his lawyers…

And the GOP writ large. Including the Howler Monkey that put his dick pick up for the entire world to see.

(It is difficult to see what legitimate legislative purpose that serves. No… really. There was no debate on it. No. Legislation that came from it.)
