Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

You can't have a taser, but you can sex traffic minors.

[–] NegativeLookBehind@kbin.social 17 points 9 months ago (1 children)

No no, the executive branch can do it.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 16 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Uh, he is in the legislative branch...

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I think it's more correlated with wealth.

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Nah. It's legislative power. GOP can't afford to lose any more votes in the house.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

No, it's definitely wealth. We have a two tiered justice system.

This can only be a publicity stunt, and at that, he was too much of a puss to have an actual gun on him.

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 43 points 9 months ago (1 children)

It helps him get the girls into the van

Girls love stunt vans.

[–] Furedadmins@lemmy.world 52 points 9 months ago

Well how else is he supposed to keep those kids quiet when he flies them to his rape palace.

[–] gregorum@lemm.ee 47 points 9 months ago

How else is he supposed to get dates? They shut down his Venmo account.

[–] bradorsomething@ttrpg.network 16 points 9 months ago

I guess he had an unwilling date later.

It's absolutely hilarious to me how many of the "tough guys" who think they're the most macho men on the planet have to carry a fucking weapon on them at all times.

Are you a "tough guy" for real, or do you just cosplay as one with the other incels, Matty?

[–] Jimmyeatsausage@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago

The middle school girls think it makes him look cool.

[–] SPRUNT@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Carrying a weapon on you at all times screams *frightened coward" to me.

He’s got the wrong colored skin /s

If a regular citizen had a taser at airport security, they would have been held as a terrorist.

[–] elbarto777@lemmy.world 23 points 9 months ago (2 children)

This is not true. C'mon. I hate Gaetz's guts. But it's not like he was wielding it at security.

People can transport weapons via checked in luggage. It wouldn't be uncommon for some distracted packer to put it in their carryon - at which point the person would be stopped and told "you can either dispose of it, or not enter the secure area. Your choice."

Unless you're brown like me, of course ;)

[–] Kbobabob@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago (2 children)

This is not true either. My boss accidentally had a bullet in his bag. No gun or anything to actually use it and they held him and threatened to arrest him. He's white btw.

[–] nerdyshades@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

What's wild here is I had 20 bullets in my backpack that I accidentally left in there, and they let me through, and through a connecting flight, and only caught them on the flight home, and made me throw them away. I am white which could have contributed to the "toss to enter" treatment, but I did technically fly with explosives in my carry on.

[–] elbarto777@lemmy.world -1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Sucks to be your boss, then, but that's pretty anecdotal. Plus you can't compare a bullet with a taser.

[–] Kbobabob@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I'm replying to a comment that just specified weapons in general.

[–] elbarto777@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Fair enough.

[–] frezik@midwest.social 1 points 9 months ago

It was definitely true in the Bush years. Less so now. That was a dumb time. Unlike now, which is dumb in new and unique ways.

[–] Che_Donkey@lemmy.ml 8 points 9 months ago (2 children)

The twist? it was in his ass....

[–] spider@lemmy.nz 10 points 9 months ago

Airport security wouldn't be needed for that, though, because he talks out of it.

[–] ech@lemm.ee 8 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I didn't know he played chess.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 months ago

Crafty callback. Nice.

[–] ettyblatant@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago

So I've spent an embarrassing amount of time thinking "why are all these people so clueless!?" when their weapons are found at TSA etc, but JUST NOW I realized it's because they are usually waived through.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (2 children)

Gaetz is trying really really hard to be as shit like as possible.

[–] elbarto777@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Well, that's not news...

Even an idiot like pedo Gaetz should have a right to defend himself. Just stupid to bring it to the airport.

[–] evenglow@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Having a taser is not the problem. Republicans forgetting where their taser or gun is at, is the problem.

he just wanted to be like the grandma from die hard 2.
