Yeah I just went over the basics that I can explain easily, theres probably more to be said but id leave that to actually researched articles and videos.

Its multiple things, for one my neighbor who is like kin to me was abused by her father growing up and the Adventist protected him. Thats more personal compared to my families gripes, basically we've been dealing with them for about a hundred years legally, socially, and economically. Theyve mellowed out kinda in the last 50 years according to my family, but the church structure is more or less the same. Think of it as a slightly toned down Jehovah's witnesses with some scientology mixed in, the people may be fine but the leadership is fucken horrid and abusive to their own.

They also do shunning or at least used to which is fucking abhorrent, ya dont exile kin just because they broke a stupid religious tenant.

Do the Catholic zealots not realize that less than 70 years ago most Americans were paranoid about them taking over, reigniting and justifying that fear seems rather stupid. Especially since quite a few more liberal Catholics would throw them under the bus, and the Jesuits would probably smuggle guns against them.

Tolerance is a social contract, if you are tolerant of others you will be tolerated as well. It can be the most terse a step from violence tolerance but so long as folks follow it then it remains. But once ya break it then the group ya broke it against has no reason to be tolerant of you, neither are those who align with them.

For example I fucking hate the Seventh day Adventists, its for mostly ancestral reasons but I hate them and refuse to act tolerant towards them. I am not entitled to the tolerance nor civility of those who think that is unacceptable, nor do I want it.
