Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Five years from now, you look out upon the charred ruins of what used to be your neighborhood. You remember this song. That was it. That was the moment that the stupid became terminal.

[–] IronpigsWizard@lemmy.world 19 points 9 months ago

"YOU MANIACS! YOU BLEW IT UP! AH, DAMN YOU! GOD! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!"

[–] davemeech@lemmy.ca 52 points 9 months ago (1 children)

+1 on the "don't engage him or this" gang.

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com 8 points 9 months ago

Agreed. Engaging trolls lends implicit credibility to their platform, and they have no requirement to reciprocate that credibility.

facts don’t care about your feelings

Isn’t he religious or something?

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 22 points 9 months ago (1 children)

He's a republican, so the shirt is more ironic because they don't know how to care more about facts than their feelings

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 11 points 9 months ago

more so because the design looks loosely based on the DARE anti-drugs campaign which was also based entirely on feelings based responses and not data

[–] GentlemanLoser@ttrpg.network 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

He's the "Pope of the Jews" according to Majority Report

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

How the fuck is that meant to make sense whatsoever?!

[–] GilgameshCatBeard@lemmy.ca 29 points 9 months ago

Nope. Not giving that douchebag a view.

[–] A7thStone@lemmy.world 27 points 9 months ago (2 children)

It's number one on iTunes charts right now. How much effort did they have to put in to game that system?

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 18 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Hate listening is listening.

[–] Aabbcc@lemm.ee 6 points 9 months ago

Hate listening drops off fast though because you only hate listen once

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 20 points 9 months ago (1 children)

He's done it before. The answer is to stop watching it.

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I feel like we need to do something more.

Viable options to stop Ben Shapiro exercising his Constitutional right to be a cringey cryptofascist:

1: Ignore him. His model of conservative activism depends on the left's impotent outrage to signal boost his message.

2: Violence

Can someone please pirate and share this somewhere that the monster won't get monetized?

[–] Riccosuave@lemmy.world 48 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Yeah, I want to click that just for the cringe factor, but I just can't justify the triple threat of monetization for Elon, Tom McDonald, and Ben Shapiro. That's like the unholy trinity of white fragility.

[–] Churbleyimyam@lemm.ee 2 points 9 months ago

If you watch it on freetube or newpipe you can take some pleasure from the fact that it's at googles expense.

[–] dinozaur@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 9 months ago

Would putting it behind nitter help?

[–] BarrelAgedBoredom@lemm.ee 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Tom McDonald, he's a canadian alt-right grifter. Don't waste your time learning anything else about him lol

[–] Varyk@sh.itjust.works 1 points 9 months ago

Done and done

[–] DessertStorms@kbin.social 8 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago
