So I am thinking about hosting a Futurama party for the new season premiere. I want to have Futurama theme food and drinks. First thing that comes to my head is Popplers (popcorn chicken or shrimp) and the Slurm recipe I found here https://www.theflavorbender.com/homemade-slurm-drink-futurama/. What other food/drink ideas do you suggest?

Interesting.... Odd.... Maybe too much work but appreciate you sharing the link

Definitely a lot of work. I was surprised to find out how much actually goes into making human kibble.

I would have imagined slurm being some sort of carbonated avocado punch but I guess a limeade is more accessible.

Malted milk balls as Nibbler poo!

"Hey Professor, mmmh, great jerky!"

"My God, this is an outage! I was going to eat that mummy!"

I understand a few spoonfuls of LSD really gives things a kick.

The essence of flavor!

Not the most interesting but I feel like you definitely need pizza. With anchovies of course.

BEER - Bender is disappointed.

The Orphanarium Hors D'oeuvres from The Cyber House Rules. Gristle in a blanket (pigs in a blanket) and used popsicle sticks, they've absorbed quite a lot of flavor (I assume just popsicle sticks what once had a popsicle on them, thus absorbing some flavor)

Against my better judgement, I'm gonna kick it up another notch.

Mammothwurst from fun on the bun (just sausages)

Turkey dogs from 300 big boys

Bachelor chow could just be cocoapuffs.

Surge soda could be relabeled mtn dew if you run low on time.

buy blank pizza boxes and make Panuchi's pizza

fake plastic bees in a cheese shaker.

capers and salt

small crystal vial with essence of flavor.

Soylent drinks can be found in the beverage section in Walmart (PA, USA at least). I think they are plant-based protein drinks?

"It varys from person to person"

Absolutely one of the best low key jokes.

LoBrau beer. Lowenbrau seems a pretty good substitute if it's around your area.

Here's just about every gag food I can think of from the show that could be translated to an edible dish:

  • Popplers
  • Slurm
  • Manwhich
  • Glagnar's Human Rinds
  • Bachelor Chow
  • Bristol Myers Squibb steak (just serve steak tips in some novelty-size pill capsules?)
  • FemaSlim (some liquid/gel served in disposable food-grade syringes)
  • Soylent drinks
  • Coffee served in whale mugs
  • Deep-fried icecream sandwich wrapped in frosting and lightly baconed
  • Jerked "lower horn"
  • "Jamaican" platter: jerked meat of every variety
  • "LaBarbara's cooking": comically spicy Caribbean food
  • Sterno Nicoise (flambeed ice cream cake with blue frosting, probably a lot of work)
  • "Froot" cup with cheese filling
  • Molten Boron/Torgo's Executive Powder (I'm thinking serve some spaghetti with red sauce in tin coffee cans with the "Molton Boron" label and the chemical hazard symbol, and Parmesan cheese labeled executive powder)

I didn't think about the food in the ads.

Fresh squeezed walrus juice. Ride the walrus!

Heck, you're never too rich for a turkey dog!

[–] miked@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Didn't ask about games but I suggest Black Jack.

[–] Gort@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Maybe some manwiches.

As for what the contents could be, maybe first come first served.
