A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

Seeing all the videos on how russian soldiers are treated by their superiors, was the AFU vehicle just a plausible deniability?

That's a good point. He could have been fragged or set up for a own goal. It probably wouldn't be difficult. Tell him it's safe and send him out after a bender?

[–] theodewere@kbin.social 26 points 11 months ago (1 children)

what's important is the fact that both explanations are perfectly plausible given the current state of the Russian military

[–] TAG@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

You forgot the third, less plausible explanation: General was talking shit about Putin, did not realize that Vladimir Vladimirovich is always listening.

[–] skillissuer@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 11 months ago (1 children)

could be also a translation issue as "mine" and "mortar bomb" are the same word in russian

[–] skillissuer@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 11 months ago

real, context would clarify it

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 38 points 11 months ago (5 children)

That is a concerning amount of flag officers killed.

[–] Diplomjodler@feddit.de 33 points 11 months ago

I'm not really concerned.

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 19 points 11 months ago

Yeah, considering how many conscripts are out there in a war their families aren't permitted to call a war, it seems low.

[–] skillissuer@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

This is something like 6th ru general killed

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 12 points 11 months ago (1 children)

7th with him being the 12th ru senior officer.

[–] theodewere@kbin.social 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (2 children)

does this include the ones that have fallen out of windows and down stairs

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 months ago

Probably not.

[–] JohnDClay@sh.itjust.works 8 points 11 months ago

I'm glad there are actual consequences for the people at the top. I hope the rest of them realize that too, or are dealt with in the same manner.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Only if Russia wants to win their war.

[–] half_built_pyramids@lemmy.world 20 points 11 months ago (1 children)

What if he was a bad general on purpose so that his troops could blow him up to boost morale?

[–] Tammo-Korsai@kbin.social 6 points 11 months ago

That is a 4D chess move.

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago

Unbelievable like El Macho riding the rocket shark into a volcano.

[–] skillissuer@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 11 months ago

Friendly fire? When safety pin is out, Mr TM-62M is not your friend

[–] ArtVandelay@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago (2 children)

"we all knew Captain Soebel wouldn't last 5 minutes in combat, so long as members of Easy Company still had live ammunition"

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

THEY WERE ON A BREAAAAAK!

I will never forgive that casting error. He's not even a half decent actor. Barely quarter decent, even.

[–] Cagi@lemmy.ca 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

He tried to commit suicide after the war and ended up just blinding himself. His wife left him, his kids stopped contacting him. He lived in a run down facility for years before his death of malnutrition blind, alone, unloved.

[–] ArtVandelay@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Damn, I hated the man but that's sad.

[–] SpicyPeaSoup@kbin.social 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

In soviet russia, army tops you. Ouch my butthole.

[–] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 3 points 11 months ago

I just want everyone's bungholes to be safe and have plenty of teepee. It is the only thing that should ever touch your bunghole.

Putin is really working on his Evil Mastermind rep.

[–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

Well he has the "evil" part down pat.
