Recently got a '14 Trek Domane and have been racking up the miles. I found a group nearby that does 50 mile rides most Saturday mornings and states 14-16mph. What speed should be able to maintain on my own to not get dropped?

Riding in a group is a huge help, drafting will save you about 20% of the power that you'd use trying to ride those speeds on your own.

You will ride faster in a group. Mainly due to drafting. If you’ve been able to get around 12-14 mph you should be fine

That is a slow entry level speed. If you can ride 50 miles, you'll likely be fine just showing up. It is no big deal if you get dropped from a ride. Just finish on you own and try again next time.

@j4k3 Thanks! My longest so far is about 30, so I guess I should work my way up to that and give it a shot. My average on that was just 14 so it may be doable with drafting.
